Message from Owner

We live in the back of Stillwater off of Alafaya Trail in Oviedo, Florida. We lost our precious Leo roughly 6 days ago after he got out. We've been searching every morning, day and night, putting items of clothing with his scent and food/water out, past out flyers to over 100 hses. Please be on the look out for him! He means the world to us and we miss him so much!

Nadeem Najda, I'm so sorry. There is an upside to seeing other cats in the area -- it means the territory is hospitable to cats, and it's likely someone is feeding these kitties nearby -- it's a matter of figuring out who and where. If Leo is too scared to return home and you haven't yet found a place where he'll emerge at night for food, perhaps he's found food elsewhere. Do any neighbors feed cats outside or is there a colony nearby? Have you looked at a satellite view of your home and do you think he may have gone behind the cul-de-sac to a neighborhood other than your own? Although it's possible Leo will still try to come home on his own overnight (so continue to stay indoors after dark and be watchful) or you will find his hiding spot if you keep searching (within about five houses of home) as I described, your objective going forward will be to identify a place where Leo feels comfortable emerging at night for food. If you can figure out where he's found food or lure him to a safe and quiet place to eat, he'll stay close and well nourished while you formulate a recovery plan. It's important to get the word out about Leo to your neighbors using signs, flyers, and Nextdoor -- someone may have seen him (especially on security cameras at night) or been feeding him and not know it. When you post on Nextdoor, make sure the title sentence is descriptive and provides a location;, e.g., "Lost masked Siamese cat @ Stillwater & Alafaya on 3/21..." Make sure to comment or repost to keep it in the newsfeed. With regard to placing bowls and food outside overnight, if you believe it’s safe you can add more or move them around to places where Leo will feel comfortable eating — my escaped cats rarely came to the bowl I expected. When Leo doesn't appear at a particular place over two nights, move the food to a new location. This is like fishing -- you're trying to figure out where Leo is biting. I have a full set of instructions which may be useful to you as time passes. Please let me know if you have questions. Hang in there and keep me updated. Hang in there and let me know how it goes. https://www.dropbox.com/s/e63sos0yc7znlej/EscapedCat.pdf?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR1x5gw2G_RoxuSs2vJQ9ym-6PIC-5u10U5UPUO6IRaBaIRT40A_mozvkX4

Diana Ellis Unfortunately still no sign of him 😔 We've had other cats come around. A white one that hangs around the cul-de-sac, and that little brown pregnant female I mentioned earlier. We've had cameras all around the house, kept the garage and patio doors open, had dry food out, etc.

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.

Hey all, we are Leo's owners and we're desperate for any information or leads! We've been looking every day and following all the best practices to try and find him with no luck. It has become so depressing but we're trying to stay hopeful 😞
