Being that he’s not neutered he will wander further and stay away longer looking for mates and adding to the cat crisis in our valley. Post on Nextdoor and Neighbors Ring apps. Indoor cats stay close to home and may hide. Put out items of unwashed clothing or towels with your scent on it, 🚫DO NOT put a litterbox outside or in your garage with door cracked despite some people advising you to, it can attract predators, dogs or tomcats to the area that could endanger and chase him/her off preventing your cat from returning home.🚫 Go out multiple times between dusk and dawn with a flashlight to look for eyeshine, bring his/her treat bag and shake it while calling his/her name. You can even try a laser pointer toy and shine it around on the ground while out looking. If he/she is microchipped make sure your contact info is up to date and contact chip company to report as missing. Put up flyers within a 1 mile radius, not everyone uses social media. Talk to your neighbors, have them check garages, yards and sheds. Check the animal shelter daily, go in person often and bring a photo of your cat because they don’t always update their website daily, they are notoriously unreliable over the phone, telling people their pet isn’t there when it is and can be resistant to letting people go in the cat area to look for their cat so be firm and polite (The Animal Foundation). Most importantly be consistent and persistent, get out there on foot, not car, after dark everyday to search and don’t give up. Don't wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Once you find him be responsible and get him neutered and microchipped ASAP, it is the law.

Post in Las Vegas Cats. There may be colony feeders, and trappers in your area that can keep an eye out for him.

Please get him neutered and chipped when you find him. There are affordable options out there. There may be feral females out there that are in heat. In most cases, if he is an indoor only cat he will not go far. He is hiding close by and will be elusive. Walk up and down your neighborhood while shaking your favorite bag of food or treats or whatever brings your kitty running to you at all times of morning , day and night. You may also want to consider using one of those toy laser lights at night to bring your cat out of hiding. Knock on neighbor’s doors and give them a good contact number in case they see him. Very important in case they are stuck in a garage or shed or God forbid even hurt. Not everyone will see your fliers and post. If you have a garage or front door, leave it cracked open just enough for kitty and leave bedding or clothing that has your scent, also leave food and water, but be aware of predators. Remember in most cases, he will be close by, so don’t give up and keep looking. You may want to consider borrowing or buying a humane trap. Be persistent and consistent and most importantly, Don’t Stop Looking! Not all cats will just show up at your door. It took us over a month to get our kitty home with the help of neighbors. Sorry to hear your cat is missing. Your cat is nearby probably on your property scared and hiding. Put out worn clothing. Clothing has to be worn so that kitty can pick up on the scent. Also put out kitty’s cat bed or a blanket anything with the cat’s scent outside. Leave a window and a door slightly open so that kitty can find its way back inside the house. Be sure to secure other pets first. Go out at Dawn and Dusk approximately 2 am to 5 am especially with a flashlight. The light from the flashlight will reflect in the cat’s eyes. Check underneath bushes, trees, cars, decks, patio furniture and tarps. Anything your cat will use as shelter and a place to hide. Check sheds, garages etc. Kitty’s venture off not to far away from home. Search your property extensively. Most cats are found hiding on owners property. Be sure to search properties at a radius of 10 homes to the right, 10 to the left, 10 behind and 10 in front. Go door to door and let your neighbours know your cat is missing. Ask for their permission to search their properties. Look at every nook and cranny. Neighbours will not thoroughly search their properties or know where to look. It is best if you search the properties yourself. Shake a bag of your cat’s favourite treats or food calling kitty’s name calmly. Important thing is to remain calm. If you find your cat, make no sudden movements. Your cat is scared and in survival mode. Approach your cat slowly and calmly. Extend your hand out so that your cat can smell your hand. You need to gain your cats trust again. Give your cat treats. When you think you can grab your cat confidently do so and hang on tightly to it. Remember your cat is scared and in survival mode and will be scared of you as well. Remain calm. Be sure to create flyers with as much information possible and hand out to your neighbours as well as post flyers in the neighbourhood and the surrounding areas. Remember 10 to the left 10 to the right, 10 to the front and 10 to the back. If you can offer a reward it will encourage others to look for your kitty. Do don’t leave the litter box outside it will attract stray cats, raccoons etc. It will scare your cat away. If your cat is microchipped call the company and report the cat missing. Make sure your contact information is up to date. Report your cat missing to your local SPCA or Human Society. Bring flyers as well to post. Go in person to your local SPCA /Humane Society every couple of days and check out what cats that were recently brought in. Contact rescue groups or agencies and report your cat is missing. Bring them flyers. Go in person and check what cats have been brought it. Report your cat missing on local Facebook animals group and neighborhood watch Facebook pages. Check Kijiji as well. Follow these tips. Don’t waste any time waiting for your cat to come home. Start your search immediately. Just keep going out looking for your cat everyday . Recheck your property, your neighbours and surrounding areas as mentioned as many times as necessary. Check in with the SPCA/Humane Society and rescue groups every couple of days. Don’t give up. It can take days, weeks or months to find your cat. Good luck finding for your cat.
