If you have not done so already: • File reports online with several area animal shelters in a wider area (ask how often the report needs to be renewed). If you do not check often and the pet has been at the shelter for more than 10 days, they could find anew home for the pet (varies by location). Check shelters in person because mistakes happen and not all stray pets are posted online or mistakes are made in descriptions. •Check strays and found pets section on animal shelter websites and Facebook pages daily. Go in person to check shelters. Some websites are not updated and many pets have been found by checking in person. • File a free initial report with PawBoost (dot) com — Once you get to the pricing page, you can stop. The free Pawboost alert has already been created. Check your emails for messages from people who may have found or seen your pet. • Upload photos to Lost. (dot) PetcoLove (dot) org for facial recognition software to help match it to photos of found pets • Make a post on NextDoor & Neighbors by Ring (free neighborhood apps), and • If the pet is a microchipped, check that your contact info is up to date and file a lost pet report with the microchip company. • Post flyers around the area since some people are not on social media (large posters work even better), notify delivery drivers/postal workers who are in the area frequently and ask neighbors to check their Ring cameras and security cameras footage. Put DO NOT CHASE on flyers and posters. ‼️ People may chase pets into traffic where they could get hit by cars or get further lost. You have a better chance of the pet staying in the area when people are reminded not to chase pets but just to call if the pet is seen. ⚠️Beware that some scammers may try to contact you pretending to be pet finders or pretending to have found your pet and may ask you to contact them on other social media. There are some legitimate pet finders, though. Feel free to ask if you’re not sure if they are legitimate. Prayers for a fast reunion!

Tips on Finding Cats Check everywhere inside & outside the house. They can get into very small and unusual places - holes under cabinets, inside ceilings if there are tiles, closets, food cabinets, drain pipes inside and outside the home, crawl spaces under stairs, etc. Cats have even been found inside couches. The cat may be hiding somewhere to stay warm. Check under cars. Cats may even hide inside someone’s car engine. Ask neighbors to check in their garages or under decks and around patios or porches - any space a cat could hide. Cats have been known to jump onto the back of trucks and delivery vans and have been found in other cities (thanks to microchip confirmation). Check a wider area and multiple shelters. They tend to get stuck in sheds or other people’s garages. Also, look up in trees and look down in landscaping and drainage pipes. Bring a bag of cat treats or a noisy toy he might be able to recognize the sound. Someone else found his cat by playing friendly cat sounds from his phone or playing the sounds from another pet that may be familiar or walking around with a another pet the lost pet may recognize. Leave smelly socks or dirty laundry near home entrances and at feeding stations so they can recognize your scent. This seems to work best. This will help the pet to stay in one area. Try using a laser pointer at night to lure the cat out as well. Cats are more active at night check the neighborhood at night as well. They tend not to go far unless they got into a car somehow or someone took them. The sardines or mackerel fish scent can help lead them back home if you create a trail of food leading back to your home. Create an outdoor cat shelter with with straw not hay. Towels and fabrics do not retain heat in cold weather. An insulated box with straw is best. Find local cat trappers and trackers who can help you set up a humane trap near home as well. Animal rescue groups or shelters usually know someone or can loan one.

Please put your clothes out for the scent and get a baked chicken from Walmart and put out they can smell it aways away look outside late at night when it's all quiet alot of times their hiding under something scared and look under neighbors sheds and in their garages to g

You may have done all or most of these but maybe there is a hint for something else to do. Look everywhere inside, outside, in, behind and under bushes, decks, porches, culverts, window wells and sheds. If there have been any maintenance people in home, look in areas they might have been around in case the cat was closed in that area (walls, heating & air ducts, open floors, attics, bats/cellars/crawl spaces). Call, knock and listen for a response. In sheds, move stuff around, away from walls and especially corners. Also look up as there could be a spot to roost. Use a flashlight to look for eyeshine night and day inside sheds, decks, bushes, culverts and under anything even if you think it is bright enough. Make flyers and take around for several blocks in all directions. If no one is home, leave a flyer in the door or mailbox. If neighbors are home, ask if you can look around their property and ask if they have seen the kitty or if they have to contact you. Put out some cat food to try and draw towards the house. Put out some of your clothing, a cat bed or even a cat tree from the house if it is a small one. Saw a post where someone did that and they came out the next day and found the cat in it.. Contact all vets in the area, the SPCA(s) for your area and Animal Control. Hope your beautiful kitty comes home from the adventure soon. Maybe this will help.

I am not an expert, but after ours went briefly missing I have a few tips to share. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Look in storm drains. Bend down and look, dont assume they can hear you calling for them. Even if you are next to it calling out, they may not hear. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Walk the surrounding areas during quite times of the day, especially in late at night and early mornings. Take treats to shake or cans of food to tap. Cats are most likely to be active and venturing out of hiding during those times. Cats are naturally more active during dusk and dawn, and may be less likely to be seen during the day. Additionally, many cats will attempt to return home within the first week, often in the middle of the night. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Don't put out their litter, but do put out a load of your laundry. Your baby knows your scent. Litter might attract territorial aggressive strays or ferals that might fight or chase away your baby. They won't care about your laundry though. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Tell your neighbors. Ask the delivery people, garbage & recycling people to keep an eye out. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Notify the microchip company and make sure they are still in their system 🐈‍⬛✔️ Use free online sources like Canva to make flyers to put up. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Contact the local shelters to alert them. They will check the pets that came in and will be on the look out for yours when new ones come in. They also have resources/suggestions, and can loan you traps. **if you use a trap, check it often as raccoons will injure trapped cats. Do not leave it alone over night. ⚠️ Set your alarm to wake up to check it 🐈‍⬛✔️ Contact the vets in the surrounding area. Someone might take your pet in to see if they have a chip. Leave your info with them just in case someone does. 🐈‍⬛✔️Reach out to local rescues to alert them. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Register them on websites like Petco Lost Love and PawBoost. One will create a flyer for you to print out and both can be used to share on social media. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Check out websites like 24PetConnection , nextdoor neighbors, and the shelters periodically to see if they have been listed as found. 🐈‍⬛✔️ Don't give up.
