If he's not neutered they sometimes go after females in heat .. indoor cats that get loose hide but they don't go far unless they get scared off. If you set stinky can food and water out and a box with something he is familiar with or a scent he is familiar with he might find his way home. Also they usually hide until night if it's a busy neighborhood.

I'm sorry you've not yet found your precious Charlie 😢 don't lose heart in your search....hopefully he's been taken in by someone who is caring for him. Posters up everywhere with his photo and your contact info large enough to be seen from passing drivers...also, door to door in you neighborhood. people will help keep eyes out when they know what he means to you 🥹Leave your contact info in case anyone sees him. 🤞
