He snuck out while I was cleaning the kitchen. He might be microchipped. He's my grandnieces beloved furbaby!

Not sure if it’s the same cat but posting just in case. I’m in Greenbrier/Chesapeake.

Put an article of clothing with your scent on it on your porch close to where he got out. Cats have a wonderful sense of smell and will come to those items. Leave a window cracked nearby so that you can hear him. Cats usually don’t go more than a few houses in any direction, so post pictures around the neighborhood and on doors. Ask neighbors to keep an eye out and to check garages and sheds. Cats hide, usually fairly close by. They tend to come out after dark, so look for him then. Call and rattle a treat can if he likes those. If you put food out, stay close by, because it will also attract other animals that might scare him away. Don't leave it out very long. Also, go in person to shelters and vets' offices, and leave a picture and phone number there. I hope you find him!

Tonight after 10 o’clock go out in your yard with a bag of kitty treats and your flashlight. Walk around calling your cats name and shaking the kitty treats bag. Use the flashlight to look in the bushes to see if you can see your cat hiding. Indoor cats rarely stray more than 5 to 7 houses from their own. If the cat is chipped, make sure that the registry has the correct contact information. Print flyers with the cats picture and your contact information and take around to your neighbors and ask them to call you if they see your cat. Also ask them if they’ve been in their shed or any outbuilding since the cabinet went missing. A cat will go into a shed or out building because it seems safe to them when the owner closes. The door is closed by the owner and the cat cannot get out and you can’t hear a cat crying to get out of a shed unless you’re standing right next to the shed. File a lost cat report with the Virginia Beach animal shelter. Visit the shelter in person several times a week. Cats can be picked up and brought in any day. Don’t call and ask them to look for the cat because they are very busy with so many animals.
