Description

All black, lean and thin. Skinny tail. Hair thinning on back legs, which turn inwards slightly when he walks. Also we had to shave the side of his face recently and it's taking forever to come back in so his face looks a bit lopsided.

Message from Owner

Please help us find Salem! He’s never gone this long and we’re very nervous. We’ve had him almost 10 years now. We’ve got his litter box and his favorite blankets waiting for him on the porch.

Still missing as of 3/22! Still searching! Flyers are still up around the neighborhood and at the local VCA hospital and the Ready Vets across from Target in Greer.

Litter attracts coyotes--please do not put his box outside. Coyotes hunt day and night and are a constant threat to outdoor cats.

Rain Hammoura Thank you for having him neutered and microchipped ❤ Be sure to contact the chip company and tell them that he's missing. Also make sure your contact info is up-to-date on their website. If you haven't already, put up flyers everywhere as many people aren't on social media. Give flyers to every vet clinic, rescue, and shelter in the area in case he turns up (microchips can migrate over time, and if his has, they might have to scan his whole body to find it). Ask your neighbors to check their cameras, garages, sheds, and crawlspaces. Ask them all if they had any visitors or contractors doing work on their houses around the time he went missing. If so, contact the visitors and businesses and ask them if they had an accidental stowaway. Look up in trees in case he was chased. Walk the neighborhood in the wee hours with a flashlight and look for glowing eyes. Call him in a regular voice (not panicked) and gently shake a treat bag if he likes that kind of stuff. If he's injured or scared, he's probably hunkered down and hiding. He may not answer you when you call, but that's just instinctual as a vocal cat gives away their location to predators, and an injured cat is prey. Put his beds/blankets and some of your dirty clothes on your porches and around the perimeter of your yard. When he comes home, you might consider building or buying a catio (some people have bought pre-made chicken coops and "attached" them to their houses with kitty access through a window): or, if you have a fenced in yard, you might consider putting up cat-fencing or coyote rollers on top of the fence to keep him safely in your yard (both can be DIY). Good luck ❤
