Please also notify your vet and vets nearby and in the surrounding area in case your pet is brought in for care. Notify any and all shelters and humane societies as well. I have heard it’s helpful to check shelters daily as possible. Please know we are praying! 🖤

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby

Shine the light into bushes, under decks, and up into trees—cats’ eyes will often reflect the light, making them easier to spot. Ask your mail carrier to keep an eye out. They travel throughout the neighborhood daily and may notice a cat hiding or wandering nearby. You can also try using scent to help guide your cat home. Put your urine in a spray bottle and lightly spray it around your yard and nearby areas. I learned this tip from a search-and-rescue dog handler when my own cat went missing—the familiar scent may help your cat find its way back. I’m sorry your baby is missing. To add to others, here are some tips that may help. An idea that has worked for me: Find cat sounds online, play them for about 45 seconds, stop, listen very closely, be very quiet. Try it four or so times in different places in your yard. Place your dirty clothes outside up off the ground where the breeze will carry your scent. It may lure him back. NO food, water or litter outside because it attracts everyone else including ants. Open a door or window where he escaped from and crack your garage door so he can get back in 24/7. If it’s an indoor kitty it is really important he has a safe way back in so leave a door open (all day and night) as they typically try to return when it’s late hours and quiet. Check all of the bushes, shake noisy food and then be quiet and listen. He might meow but you might not hear them. Check trees, he could have been chased up one. Indoor cats don't usually go too far. Talk to neighbors. He might be camped out in their yard, and they don't know he is yours. Also, have them check their cameras. Post on Ring if you have it or ask neighbors to post on theirs. Put up signs on stop signs, community mailboxes, even put on neighbor's doors. Your neighborhood might have a FB page or email program. IMPORTANT. Check with vets where they went missing. Call the shelter and let them know your cat is missing so they can log it in their book. If he is chipped, call the chip company and let them know he’s missing and make sure your contact information is up-to-date. If they are not chipped, contact every vet in the area to let them know he is missing in case someone brings him for a chip check. I hope your kitty comes home soon! General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

Time is of the essence. Cats don’t go far from home. Don’t wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Leave the door/window the kitty exited from open 24/7. If unable, then crack garage door open 24/7 enough to get in. Knock on neighbors doors with a picture asking them to keep an eye out. See if they can check Ring cameras for any sighting. Post signs with kitty’s picture as many as possible, include surrounding neighborhoods. Go out late at night with a flashlight, shaking a bag of food, calling kitty’s name, looking under shrubs for their shining eyes. Post on Ring, Nextdoor and check shelters. Don’t give up. 💕
