Missing Cockatiel – Please Help Find Coco 🐦 My bird flew away in Plainville and we are desperately trying to find him. His name is Coco and he is very friendly. He is a gray cockatiel with a bright yellow face, bright orange cheeks, a long gray crest, and white markings on his wings. If you see him or are able to safely bring him inside, please call or text me immediately at. He is deeply loved and missed by our family. Please share this post to help bring Coco home. Thank you so much.

Stay near where it escaped — don’t wander too far at first • Bring the bird’s cage outside (door open) with food & water • Play familiar sounds (your voice, whistles, recorded calls) • Call calmly and repeatedly — your voice is a big anchor 👉 Many pet birds will perch nearby and watch before coming down ⸻ 🌳 Where to look • Trees, rooftops, fences within 1–3 houses radius first • Listen for chirping — they often respond if they hear you • Look early morning & late evening (quiet times) ⸻ 📱 Spread the word fast • Post on: • Nextdoor • PawBoost • Local Facebook groups • Include: • Clear photo • Type of bird (parakeet, cockatiel, etc.) • Last seen location • “Do not chase — call this number” ⸻ 🧠 Key behavior tip (important) • A scared bird will often: • Fly up high and stay put for hours • Come down when hungry or tired • That’s why staying nearby + cage setup works better than chasing ⸻ 🏡 Lure them back • Favorite foods (millet spray, seeds, fruit) • Their cage or a familiar perch • Another bonded bird (if you have one) ⸻ ⚠️ What NOT to do • Don’t chase or throw things → they’ll fly farther • Don’t rely only on searching far away too soon • Don’t give up after a few hours — birds are often found the next day

Posted on Lost and Found birds of the US https://m.facebook.com/groups/637611853061306/permalink/3577500889072373/?mibextid=Nif5oz To Coco's owner: We are so sorry to hear your bird is missing. Here are some ideas to assist in your search. *Create a post on Pawboost, NextDoor & Ring, if you haven’t already. *During the daytime: use a wireless Bluetooth speaker to broadcast flock calls or your voice, shake treat bags or anything that might attract attention to food, put the cage out where it can be seen. *During the evening when searching is over, design & print off flyers with photo & contact information. These can be encased in a ziplock to keep weatherproof & posted in areas where allowed like parks, poles & any nearby gathering areas. Also drop off some at vet clinics, pet supply stores, anything within a 5 mile radius. Contact local shelters/rescues & even the police dept - they do pick up found/stray pets all the time. Make sure the world knows - neighbors esp ones that have bird feeders/baths/pools. Hand them out while searching the area. Join every local social media group there is. Run an ad in your local newspaper - some run one for free in lost & found (or cheap). Also check with local bird watcher groups - they’re always out & about. Flyers cannot be placed in mailboxes. *PLEASE CHECK WITH LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS & FILE A MISSING PET REPORT*
