Michele Chavez those are great recommendations and I will surely reach out to Petco in Facebook. I believe it’s on next-door already, but I will check to make more sure. It’s just heartbreaking to find an animal that you know is loved by someone, other than me, lol.

The best way to find the owner is to post at Petco. Then do a FB search and post on all Topeka Lost Pet groups and do the same for Shawnee County and NE KS because there are many groups that don't share information. That's the best way to get the word out locally. Taking kitty to scan for chip is free.

I would appreciate it if you would ask your neighbor if they’re missing their black cat or if you have seen this cat in your neighborhood and he is no longer there anything you can think of to help find this cat. As previously stated it is very thin and needs to get home for constant feeding and possible healthcare. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Chris.

Thank you for the recommendation, but unfortunately, I’ve adopted four cats and they are all indoor cats, but I did purchase a little outdoor house and I’m just waiting for it to come. I will wait as long as I can before having to take it to helping hands. Do you know if I can have my Vet take a look at it since I am not the owner? Chris

Not everyone knows about Nextdoor or Facebook groups, but it’s a start. Maximize your exposure by using the following suggestions. Post on PawBoost & Facebook lost/found groups & Petco Love Lost (HHHS-Helping Hands Humane Society partners with supposedly) & PetFbi & all Topeka animal lovers and lost&found Facebook groups & AKC Reunite & HomeAgain PetRescuers. Go to the HHHS in person everyday and look. Ask them to put you on their HHHS lost&found Facebook site. If (s)he is microchipped, contact all microchip companies he is registered with and tell them (s)he is lost. They'll put it on their network and pages. For the following, you only need to send ONE email. Highlight the entire email list, copy it, and paste into the “To:” line of your email. The list was current May 2023. There may be additions and changes since then, such as the newer “Kitten Rescue.” Google is your friend if you want to check for more. Email every vet and rescue/shelter with date missing, pic, description, location, contact info, and everything pertinent. On PawBoost & Petco Love Lost, you can generate a flyer. Walk your area and ask for sightings from all your neighbors. Post it all over the place, especially where you get sightings from your neighbors. That's how I found my 17 year old cat last year when he got out a door that blew open in the wind and went walk-about for 4 days. The sightings were correct and he decided he was done wandering and just found a cat-lover's front porch to "chill" on. She found me on PawBoost and Facebook and texted me saying, "I think I have your cat." Her daughter wanted to keep him, of course, but mom knew better.
