I've heard people say not to put a cat litter box out and that's fine but I would put something with your cats scent on it, incase it's lots and having trouble finding it's way back home. I guess you could even out it in your backyard, somewhere a little harder for a coyote to get to but a safe place for your cat to find it's way back home.

My friend lost her cat for a week and a half. They found her trapped in a BB Q grill three houses down from theirs. Thank goodness she was fine but hungry.

Cats are usually less than 10 houses from home. If it's an indoor cat they will usually go over the fence and hide somewhere and often do not come out even when you call them. It's very important if you live in a coyote zone that you get over to your neighbors immediately. Knock on the door ask them to check their backyard while you stand there and wait! Rewards inspire people to pay more attention I would put $20 reward phone number and a big picture of your cat on a flyer absolutely nothing else not lost cat nothing. And tape it on all the garage doors on your street and the one behind you. Do not leave the litter box outside if you live in a coyote zone it draws coyotes.
