If he is an indoor cat, more than likely he didn't go more than a few houses down in either direction, but it's hiding. Please go out and search all low and small places like drainage pipes, crawl spaces, under sheds, porches, garages that may have been open and he went in and became trapped. Go at night too with a flashlight so you can see the glowing eyes. Be sure to talk to all your neighbors and have them check out their spaces as well. If possible leave a small crack somewhere so if he comes back during the night can get back in. He'll eventually come out when he feels safe enough to do so.
