Is she indoor only or indoor outdoor? Was she left at home with a petsitter or taken to someone’s home while you were gone? My sisters cat hid from me when I went over to feed him and searched the entire house to find him deep inside her closet! Cats do not like change and they will hunker down and hide either inside or out if they are outside their territory or if they feel someone has invaded theirs! . If your cat wasn’t seen escaping outside she could very well be hiding inside!! So look in every cupboard, closet, drawers, fireplace, under furniture, behind appliances, inside garages, attics and bats! Look in crawl spaces, under porches, decks, bushes and cars. Look up in trees and on roofs . Ask neighbors to check their property by putting fliers on their porch’s to please check their property in case she is hiding in theirs! Look with a flashlight even during the day. Put our dirty laundry and bedding. Put out food bowls inside and out or near where last seen. Ask neighbors to please check security cameras too. Post on Nextdoor and ask neighbors to please call you if sighted. Put fliers at nearby vet offices and file a lost report with shelter and microchip company if she has one. She will be hiding very nearby where she escaped, she won’t run away. If she is used to being outside she is avoiding coming back because she doesn’t know you are home do make sure and go out often, call her name softly and keep scents out there. She will come out when it’s dark and quiet. Try leaving an open door with food inside so she can run in on her own. If she is indoor only or outside her territory and continues to hide, set a humane trap. Set it early morning or evening where you can monitor it from a distance. Cover the bottom with newspaper and cover with a blanket. Put her favorite food instead. You will find her, just don’t stop looking
