Litter can attract tomcats or other animals attracted to the scent. Your kitty could be close but these animals could scare him and then he might go further away to get out of danger. It's not recommended anymore for these reasons.

Contact microchip company first then the closest animal shelter to you. I hope he's home safe soon.

LOKI is adorable. Now let’s find him. He will be very nervous and likely hiding not far from your home. When you’re out searching this evening take a flashlight with you. The light will shine off his eyes and makes it easier to locate him. Look under every veranda and bush and any tiny place he may be hiding. Ask your neighbours to search their garage and under their porch or perhaps they will allow you to. He may have also climbed up a tree, so look there as well. Take a bag of treats and shake them while calmly calling his name. Put up posters and contact shelters in your area every 3 days to see if he has been turned in. If you haven’t yet gotten him micro chipped, please do, so should this happen again he can be returned to you. GOOD LUCK ❤

Shared. Note that two days is a long time to a cat so you have no time to waste. If you have not yet done all these things do so ASAP, if you have do them again and go further in your search. Notify Mississauga Animal Services and check their website(s) for found cats. Carefully check around your home and property, focusing on small, hidden spots like closets, dresser drawers and hidden nooks and crannies, as cats often hide nearby when scared. Note that intact male cats can travel long distances in search of females in heat and have trouble finding their way back home. Search all nearby shrubs, bushes and trees, window wells, garages and sheds. Ask nearby neighbours to do the same. Alert local vet offices, rescues and shelters. Cats will usually stay near the door they left for a day or two before searching for food. Leave his used litter and some food and water in hidden places near the door he left NOW and check this evening. Advise local feral cat feeders who may spot him searching for food. See Pawboost for more ways to find and sample posters. Put a notice in nearby neighbours mailboxes, post on local notices boards, in community centres, churches and schools. Go out after dark bring food and treats, search a 5+ block radius, stop periodically and softly call but do not make any loud noises or sudden moves. Lost cats are terrified and do not recognize their owner as safe.

Put the cat's litter box out by the door and anything that cat slept on. They're nocturnal they have a great sense of smell and do not usually go too far. This did work for me and I hope it will work for you

Areej Hussain Check the Mississauga Animal Services website- found pets section, in case he’s found and turned in to their shelter. Put up posters all over the neighbourhood. Go out and walk the area at night while calling for him and shaking a bag of treats. They can hear you better at night and usually aren’t too far from home. Good luck!
