Ran up to us while we were on our porch. Terrified from the fire works. Blue collar with a bell, no tags. We literally can’t keep or do much, we have a dog currently dying from lung cancer.

Take to any vet office & check for microchip. Have them scan the whole body. The microchip moves freely throughout the body over time.

Miriam Hickey you don’t know that. They might have been letting him out in the yard for one last potty break before the fireworks started And someone nearby could have set off a random firecracker. That’s all it takes. If he spooked bad enough, he could have broken off his leash
