If he is solely an indoor cat, he is likely hiding due to unfamiliar territory. Many times someone can walk the streets in the daylight calling out for their furbaby and get no results. The reported best time is when it is really quiet and dark outside. Bring a flashlight and some treats if he likes them. Look under bushes, cars, etc. Also, crack your garage door and put out a pile of dirty clothing on your porch. Then, purchase or borrow a humane trap. Set it up in the late evening and check early morning. I hope this helps.
