Message from Owner

Our indoor cat, Ranch, escaped last night (6/10) at 10pm in the Marcola Meadows. He went out in a breakaway collar, so may or may not still be on. He is only 7 months old and rarely goes out into the world :( Please get him back home!

You may have already, but post on Eugene and Springfield lost and found pets fb page. Mention location, cross streets. Also Next Door for non FB folks, go online and file report with Greenhill Humane Society. I found my girl knocking on neighbors doors. 🐾🙏🏻🐈‍⬛ Also post on What’s going on in Springfield? Fb page.

Cats usually don't travel very far—-maybe a block or two. They hide under homes or sheds during the day time. Go outside with a flashlight, especially at night and look under porches, house, sheds and nearby bushes. Think like a cat— look low, under shrubs, behind wood piles, and look for their eyes to glow in the light of a flashlight beam. Put their bedding outside the door they escaped from or some of the owner's dirty clothing. Do not put out litter box as they could attract other animals that may scare off your cat. Usually they will hide during the day and come out at night when it's quiet and safe. Leave the door or window they escaped from open and they will usually sneak back in. Leaving a trail of chicken broth or tuna juice from the yard back to the door helps too. Put flyers up within a two block radius. Ask neighbors to check in sheds and under porches.
