I'm so sorry your beautiful, fluffy gray cat is lost. You say Thunder doesn't wander far and may have darted into a garage if it were raining -- that suggests he's allowed outside but failed to return home. If he's an escaped indoor cat, please let me know and I'll provide different instructions. Otherwise, this is what I suggest: Thoroughly search using a flashlight during the day and especially at dusk (when it's dark and quiet) to determine whether he’s ill or injured and hiding nearby, or stuck somewhere. Check every crack and crevice, look in outbuildings, containers, vehicles, under foundations, sheds and porches, into trees, etc. — call and listen carefully for Thunder’s cries (he may alert you to his location). And it’s important to ask neighbors to do the same and make sure Thunder didn’t hide and become trapped in a shed or garage, etc.
