If you put out a trap with food at night (when kitty will likely come out from hiding), you're likely to get a possum, skunk or raccoon. Put out a box of your unwashed clothing/bedding near the place he escaped from. No food or litter, it may attract animals that may scare him away. Go out after dark with a flashlight and look in garages, under sheds, porches, shrubs, etc. for his shining eyes. He's probably close, let us know when he's back.
