Please ask for proof of ownership. After seeing recent news of another dogfighting ring I cringe that bad people will claim lost pets to do unthinkable things to them.

(1) Contain the pet so it is safe from danger and escaping. (2) Scan for microchip (vet, shelters, area pet stores) should do it for free (3) Notify animal control ITS THE LAW TO DO THIS (file a found report on the Found area do not have to turn in but file ) OWNERS will CHECK there first. If you can’t contain, please ask them to pick up or take to shelter, much safer there than on streets. Please check for a microchip. It's free to check with any vet, the emergency vet is open 24/7. Also free with PetSmart and animal control when they are open. The Nextdoor app is a good resource as well for lost/found pets. Require proof of ownership from anyone trying to claim. Hope the owner is found soon🙏
