NEED YOUR HELP. Found this sweet girl roaming by our hse. It's already been a week and we still haven't found her home. I've posted on our local Lost & Found social medias & took her to see if she was chipped (she's not chipped). All the local & surrounding animal shelters are at their max and not taking in anymore animals at this time. Unfortunately we can't keep her. We need help finding her a good home. Would anyone like to Foster or take this sweet girl in? Plz let me know 🙏🏼

Did you???⚠️IMPORTANT: On Day One, you are REQUIRED to file a Found Pet Report with the nearest shelter⚠️ If you didn’t report the pup to the shelter you essentially are back to day one. If you no longer feel you have the resources to find the owner then please take this pup to the shelter. Owners go to the shelter to look for their lost pets. Pets are considered personal property in California, so by law, “reasonable efforts” MUST be made to locate a Found pet’s owner and return the pet. Here are some suggestions that should ensure that you make a good faith effort to reunite this pup with his family. If you do these you should be able to find this pup’s owner. 🐾Please start with reviewing your PawBoost post. INCLUDE your phone number where it asks for it because it allows the owner to contact you significantly easier and facilitates a quick reunification. Do NOT post your # in the body of your post. Please keep checking the post and email messages at least several times daily, and all new posts, until the owner is found. 🐾Next, please check the PawBoost website PawBoost.com, because you can get a wider range of lost dogs, and see if the pup is posted as LOST. Please keep checking back to your Found PawBoost post and messages but also looking for new Lost posts on the website, and other local Facebook PawBoost pages. ❌IMPORTANT: on DAY ONE you are required to File a FOUND PET REPORT with photo (& weight if possible) with the local shelter. Some shelter websites allow to file the report on their webpage. Also, browse through their Lost Pet Logs. The pet logs are Lost & Found pet reports from pet owner/ finders who either call in or file online reports to the shelter. ❌ALSO IMPORTANT: Have the pup scanned for a microchip at a vet or a shelter/animal services. If a microchip is found, it is your obligation to deliver the pup to your local animal control agency (shelter) to have them try to contact the owner and return the pet. The shelter is obligated to contact the owner. ❌Post on various other local lost/found forums on Facebook; also post on Next Door, Craigslist, 24PetConnect, etc. ❌You can foster the pup for the mandatory hold time for your county, which I think is either 14 or 30 days (not the same as the shelter hold time). If you are fostering, please actively search for the owner. Start by making a “Found DOG” poster (free in PawBoost) and make copies; posting them around the location the pup was found; your neighborhood., local stores, schools, vets. 80% of lost pets are found within ONE mile of home, so walk your local area and speak with neighbors. Remember, some older adults do not use social media. ❌ Verify ownership through: dog recognition of owner; vet records, photos & video; social media, etc. (Source* with a few additions) https://www.ccspca.com/blog-spca/found-a-stray-the-facts-of-pet-ownership/
