Message from Owner

If Blackie is still alive he is probably looking a lot skinnier than he looks in this photo. Trappers often dump cats in feral cat colonies so if anyone has noted a new black cat that showed up at a colony on or after Feb. 6th, it just might be him! Please help us find Blackie!

Ellen Rose Sespaniak they do have a history though. They trap and remove cats very regularly and very eagerly in counties outside of palm beach- unfortunately it’s not illegal outside of PBC. But they do it here too just perhaps not as much. Maybe their employees are not informed about the laws inside of PBC and if so, they need to inform them. There is a review on their FB page going back 3 years where someone complained about them trapping cats. It is nice that you have your buddies’ back like this but are you really sure it is warranted? I don’t know why they would do this either and risk their reputation except that they perhaps wanted to please the homeowner. They charged him $3,000 and wanted to show they worked for it, perhaps? I don’t know. But it was a bad decision. Leave the cats of PBC alone!

Deen Bean agreed. Which is why I’m saying they would have reported and taken the cat to ACC. They would not risk losing their company and everything they’ve worked so hard for, nor If they did what the majority of commentators are accusing them of then they would have absolutely nothing to gain from disobeying the ordinance (which they thoroughly understand and abide by) and taking this cat somewhere other than ACC - they would risk losing everything they worked hard for. Regardless the ACC will induct their investigation and get to the bottom of it, but in the meantime please stop bashing this company and let’s focus on finding blackie. It would be one thing if the company were investigated and the ACC found them to be responsible - but that’s not the case in this situation. In the meantime their name is being dragged through the mud, being harassed, and are overwhelmed with hate calls and false negative ratings and reviews all over the internet and social media - all because someone made a post accusing this company of illegal wrongdoing based off of here-say from their neighbor - and now it’s being shared all over FB and people have twisting and spreading rumors like wildfire about how awful this company is.

Ellen Rose Sespaniak Yes. No one is disputing that. The property owner did approve it because he thought Blackie was a stray. Now that he knows Blackie was a pet, he does feel bad. BUT: the thing is that it’s not up to him to approve or dissaprove the trapping or removal of a cat in Palm Beach County because PBC has an ordinance which forbids the trapping and removal of cats to any other location besides ACC. The ordinance is 98-22. Not many people are aware of this prohibition on trapping but you can be sure that a TRAPPING COMPANY, doing business in Palm Beach County, is aware.

Ellen Rose Sespaniak the woman in the office told the owner that Blackie was taken to a large piece of property. The trapper told the home owner the cat was released in Loxahatchee. This is what was said. Please look up the legal definitions of slander and defamation instead of throwing around terms incorrectly. The ACC will investigate and we will see what they discover. Please advise your friends who own the company to do the right thing and right this wrong. If they do, the anger and disgust directed at them will become gratitude and respect. Their negative reviews will become positive. It is no one’s goal to disparage a business just for the hell of it! This is about one thing and one thing only: it’s about Blackie. A pampered pet who is now out there alone, frightened and hungry. Can you help to get him back?

Deen Bean they would not have removed a cat without the property owners/person who hired them’s instruction and approval

Laura Caster Sounds to me like either the neighbor who hired them isn’t telling the entire story or the rumors have been twisted around so much into these false rumors that are now dragging this company and it’s name through the ringer. This company absolutely does not have a history of trapping and removing cats despite it being illegal- if they did then they would’ve lost their license and have been shut down a long time ago. Not to mention the fact that there’s zero benefit or gain on their end to do something like that and instead they would risk losing their company and everything they worked so hard for. My heart goes out to blackies owner and absolutely encourage our community to be aware that blackie is missing so that we can help find blackie and get him/her home. All I ask is that you please take down any posts that include the words “Nuisance Wildlife Rangers” or accuse the company of wrongdoing. ACC will investigate this incident and we’ll see what the outcome is, however spreading false information and encouraging people to go to a company’s fb page, website, Google, Yelp, and other social media platforms to post false negative reviews about a company - which commenters have instructed on people to do on this post- is illegal, considered slander and defamation, and legal action can be taken.

Ellen Rose Sespaniak NOPE. Sorry that your friends don’t have the integrity you thought they had, but it is what it is. If their employee removed Blackie without the company owners’ approval/knowledge then they should have this employee go find Blackie and return him to his home! Either way they are responsible for what transpired. The public is angry and upset- and rightly so.

Ellen Rose Sespaniak this is absolutely not slander. This is what happened. The man who hired the trappers admitted it. He feels bad about what happened now that he is aware that his neighbor’s cat was trapped and removed by a company he hired to trap raccoons. This company has a history of trapping and removing cats despite it being illegal in PBC. You should tell your friends who run the company to just admit they did something wrong and tell Blackie’s owner where he can be found. Then the calls and reviews might stop.
