Message from Owner

We are so sad to have to repost a message, saying Cutie is missing again!! Last time she came within a couple days, but it has now been 2 weeks!! She disappeared right after our area experienced some bad flooding from a Nor'Easter. She was safely inside, warm and dry, but when the Littles finally went out to play, Cutie slipped outside as well. We have followed all suggested tips, called and visited the shelter, and spent hours searching the surrounding neighborhood. Our main concern is with so many hses in our area now being rented as Airb&bs, that people who maintain the rentals may have opened sheds/grges for storm clean-up and she could have slipped inside. Also, she is very friendly around people, loves kids, dogs, and other Cats, so we are wondering if maybe somebody decided to bring her into their , thinking she was a Stray. She is spayed, up-to-date on all her vaccines, and she DID have a break-away collar on with her tags and our contact info, which we found in the backyard on the ground.. She does not have a chip. Please, if you see Cutie, or know where she is, text/call us night or day at. We would be so grateful for any help in finding our Fur Baby!! Thank you!

Dana Bandy I wish so much that was Cutie, but no, it is someone else's missing fur baby. I really need to add some additional photos that show Cutie from different angles. Also, Cutie is missing from 19th Bay St. and Pleasant Ave. area in East Ocean View, Norfolk Virginia. Thank you Dana.

You can also try setting up a FEEDING STATION that you can watch from a distance. Of course, the stinky food will attract other critters, but it will help in keeping your kitty in the area & help with getting SIGHTINGS. You can even DRIZZLE some tuna fish JUICE in the grass to make a trail & LURE your kitty to a particular location. Once you have sightings, you can try SITTING LOW to the ground to see if your kitty approaches you. More than likely, you'll need to set up a HUMANE TRAP as your kitty is in "protective survival mode" and will probably run from you. If/when you set up a humane trap, you'll definitely need to MONITOR the trap from afar (i.e. from inside of your car). Be prepared to camp out as cats feel safest to come out of hiding when it's DARK & QUIET (10 pm - 2 am). If you need more help or need to borrow a trap, just ask the group. 🙏💜🐾

Below are some pre-typed lost cat tips that should help you in your search to bring your sweet kitty home. Cats are amazing survivors so don't get discouraged. The GOOD NEWS is that unlike dogs, cats normally do not roam very far from home... WITHIN a 5-7 house radius. Your cat is probably scared, but hiding nearby. Just know that after being outdoors for awhile, an INDOOR cat will go into a protective SURVIVAL MODE and will probably NOT respond to YOUR calls... even if nearby. If you have a GARAGE, leave the garage door slightly cracked OPEN 24/7 so your fur baby can have safe access to return home. Place items with your kitty's scent (DIRTY litter box, BEDDING) along with STINKY wet food (tuna/sardines) and WATER inside the garage to help lure your kitty. If NO garage, try to leave the DOOR/window where your kitty EXITED your home slightly cracked OPEN and leave the above-mentioned items NEAR that door/window. The trick is really in LURING your kitty back home rather than spooking them farther away. Cats feel safest to come out of hiding when it's QUIET and DARK. One suggestion would be to walk around your neighborhood at night (best between 10 pm - 2 am) shining a FLASHLIGHT and look for reflecting EYES... beneath cars, bushes, decks, on people's doorsteps and any vacant/renovated buildings. If you live in an apartment complex, be sure to check around & even inside the DUMPSTERS. Be LISTENING for any faint "meow" sounds. As you walk with the flashlight, call softly for your kitty and SHAKE your car keys or cat treat bag... a sound that your cat will recognize. It took thirty (30) days to find and rescue my friend's cat. She was hiding in the STORM DRAINS during the day and coming out at night. It just took forever to get any sightings of her. To help get sightings, place FLIERS throughout your neighborhood. Once you get sightings, you may want to consider using a HUMANE TRAP. Please also ask your neighbors to CHECK inside/under their BACKYARD SHEDS, decks as well as their GARAGES. Cats have been known to get LOCKED inside a shed/garage after yardwork is finished. If you didn't actually see your kitty escape, I recommend that you also thoroughly check INSIDE your home... as your kitty could possibly be TRAPPED somewhere. Most importantly, VISIT any nearby animal shelters IN PERSON. Don't just call as your kitty may be overlooked by the busy staff, so actually go there. I recommend visiting EVERY OTHER DAY, because after the required holding period, the shelter can legally adopt her out or worse (if injured/sick/shelter is full). Please be CONSISTENT and PERSISTENT in following these above tips. It may take time, but don't give up! I hope and pray that your sweet kitty finds its way back. Please keep us posted. 💜🐾
