Rent or borrow a humane trap. The SPCA and other animal shelters rent them out for $100. When you return the trap you get your $100 back. Place the trap near where the cat escaped. Put some of the cat's favorite food and treats inside of the trap along with an article of your clothing with your scent on it. This method worked for me on two different occasions. If you trap the wrong cat or some other animal, put a blanket over the trap leaving the door exposed. Stand behind the trap and release the animal. Reset the trap. Time is of the essence so do this asap. Good luck and God bless.

To find your cat do the following. Make a poster with your cats information using the example I have provided. If you offer a reward you may encounter scammers. DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR CAT IN YOUR POSSESSION. Put the poster in a plastic sheet protector and adhere to fluorescent poster paper. Place them strategically on light posts in high foot traffic areas using packing tape. Put them in the area where the cat was lost and spread to neighbouring communities as the weeks pass. Once you locate your cat you will most likely require a cat trap as your cat will probably be in survival mode and won’t come to you when called. The TRAP MUST BE CONTINUOUSLY MONITORED to ensure that you trap ONLY YOUR CAT and not someone else’s pet or wildlife.

I know this is not ideal, but if you can, leave your door open a little bit and put out your worn clothing and some food. We did this and our cat came home in the middle of the night after missing for 3 days.
