My personal experience has been first securing other cats in another closed-off room, dimming/turning off most or all inside/outside lights and — if safe to do so and should be supervised — leaving doors (especially door/window escaped through) open/ajar in the very early morning (basically, need to camp out in room where door is ajar). (Cats have a keen wide-ranging/radius sense of smell; therefore, it is so important to get their familiar “home” scents into the airwaves.) Every time, my little escape artist has come bolting through the door between 3:00 — 5:00 AM. (NOTE: When he’s escaped and door is closed, he panics and takes off again — it is important they have a way in once they come out of hiding and make a mad dash for home.) Hopefully, if not used to being outdoors, MOCHI is very close by just scared to come out until it’s really dark and really quiet. Prayers for a quick safe return !!🙏🏻

TIPS TO HELP FIND LOST PET: ✅Place his/her bedding, your shoes, a piece of your unwashed clothing (such as a sweatshirt, blanket, pillowcases) and food/water outside *if there is coyotes in the area bring the food in at night*. 🚫Do not put litter box outside. Putting the litter box outside can attract predators and other cats which might keep your cat from returning home🚫 *Putting out the other items listed above, are scents only your cat will recognize* ‼️ They might be nearby and can’t figure out how to get inside ***IF you have a garage or door/sliding door that can be left open*** Leave the garage/ or door cracked for them and place the shoes, bedding, and unwashed clothing in the garage‼️ ‼️Setting a trap on your porch, in garage or backyard is also a good idea. Many cats go into survival mode when out of their element and scared and may not come to you on their own. Most skittish cats will hunker down and stay nearby so a trap is very helpful as well. ✅Walk around the area calling them calmly early morning and late evening when it’s quiet & shake a bag of treats(if they like treats), or can of tuna etc. ✅If he/she is microchipped contact the microchip company to report him/her lost and make sure your contact info is up to date. ✅Hang flyers (use a bright colored board or paper) with picture in your neighborhood, surrounding areas, local shopping centers, businesses, vet's offices, groomers, etc. within a five mile radius from your home. ✅Go door to door with the flyers as well and try to speak with people when handing out flyers. ✅Make a sign with his/her picture and put it in your front yard stating he/she is missing. ✅File a lost report with the shelters in your area and surrounding area shelters ✅If checking shelters in person, ask to see the animals in isolation too. ✅Check shelter websites daily (as it is updated hourly) ✅Check shelter found reports for found postings but not at the shelter. ✅Take a flyer to the shelters. ✅File online with petharbor, pawboost ✅Post on area lost and found pet and community Facebook pages, area shelter Facebook pages, Nextdoor, newspapers and Craigslist under "pets" and "Lost and Found”

Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they can snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

f a cat wearing an Apple AirTag goes missing, the owner should immediately use the Apple Find My app to track and secure the pet. Because AirTags rely on a crowdsourced Bluetooth network rather than active GPS, a strategic recovery process is required.1. Check the Map ImmediatelyOpen the Find My App on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and navigate to the Items tab.Green Location Icon: If the location is updating in real-time, it means an Apple device is currently within 30 feet of the cat. Head to that location immediately.Last Seen Timestamp: If it says "Offline" or shows a stale timestamp, it means no Apple devices have passed near the cat recently. Start your physical search at that last known location.2. Enable "Lost Mode"If the cat isn't found right away, scroll down in the item menu and tap Enable under Lost Mode.Instant Notifications: You will receive a push notification the exact second the cat passes near any iPhone or Apple device in the global Find My network.Display Contact Info: Enter your phone number and a brief message (e.g., "Friendly cat lost, please call owner"). If someone finds the cat, they can tap the AirTag to the top of their iPhone or Android phone to view your contact page.3. Conduct a Ground SearchGo to the last pinged location on the map. Because cats often hide when scared or stuck, use the specialized near-field features:Precision Finding: If you have an iPhone with Ultra Wideband capability (iPhone 11 or newer), select Find Nearby. An arrow and distance counter will appear on screen to point you directly to the tag's exact coordinates.Play Sound: Tap Play Sound in the app. Listen closely for the chirping noise. Note: Only use this if you know your cat does not bolt when hearing the tag chime.4. Check for a Dropped CollarKeep in mind that safe cat collars feature a breakaway buckle. If you track the AirTag to a bush or yard and it refuses to move, the collar may have snapped off while the cat escaped. If you find just the collar, shift your search to immediate hiding spots nearby— Please do these actions
