A quick Google search will help everyone on here to distinguish between a Ocelot, Savannah, Serval, and Bengal cat!! Just say'n 💁‍♀️😉😇 ...and... to find photo-comparison collages.... Thus, minimalizing the confusion of the call-outs on here! These four cats look very different: Ocelots are stocky, medium-sized wild cats from the Americas with chain-like rosettes; Servals are slender, long-legged African wild cats with huge ears; Bengals are compact, muscular domestic hybrids with leopard spots; Savannahs are tall, lean domestic hybrids that look like mini-cheetahs. Physical and Biological Differences Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) • Type: Pure wild cat (native to South/Central America and the US Southwest). • Body: Medium-sized, compact, and muscular, weighing 24 to 35 pounds. • Coat: Distinctive chained rosettes, dark stripes, and a relatively short tail. • Face: Rounded face with large eyes and white markings on the back of rounded ears. Serval (Leptailurus serval) • Type: Pure wild cat (native to sub-Saharan Africa). • Body: Slender with the longest legs and largest ears relative to body size in the cat family, weighing 18 to 40 pounds. • Coat: Bold black spots and solid black stripes running from the head down the neck and back. • Face: Small head with exceptionally tall, oval, close-set ears. Bengal Cat • Type: Domestic hybrid breed (Asian Leopard Cat crossed with domestic cats). • Body: Athletic, sturdy, and muscular, weighing 8 to 17 pounds. • Coat: Short, silky fur featuring vivid rosettes, spots, or a marbled swirl pattern with a gold/metallic sheen. • Face: Broad, slightly rounded wedge head with medium, slightly rounded ears. Savannah Cat • Type: Domestic hybrid breed (Serval crossed with a domestic cat). • Body: Very tall, lean, and lanky with long necks and legs, weighing 12 to 25 pounds (depending on the generation). • Coat: Crisp black or dark brown spots on a golden, silver, or tawny background. • Face: Tall, upright, cupped ears wide at the base, closely mimicking their wild Serval ancestor.
