No, that is just the poor picture quality. You're seeing some strings of slobber on his head that look a bit like scars in the photo, but he didn't have any injuries or scars at all. He was a friendly and playful little guy and followed me and my dog home. He wanted to come inside with us. Not the profile of a former fighter.

The dog was probably used for dog fighting. I would call animal control to see if they can help as the dog may have open wounds.
