Is this your dog? Description is pretty close. This baby does not weigh 12 pounds but could be due to weight loss if missing this long. On the thin side…

Be sure to view adoptable pets IF the animal ends up missing for more than 3 days. Petfinder, petharbor, petango, adoptapet and adltexas.org will show shelter/ACS/rescue pets (not all of them though). Pawboost, Nextdoor, Facebook, and Craigslist are commonly used by caring folks that find pets and want to locate their owner. NOTE: Craigslist is also a place used to sell & rehome found/stolen pets. Make sure you view ACS, Urgents & Adoptables, and San Antonio Medical Dogs in need. Unfortunately, there are just so many sites to view. The best bet is to view and post on as many as possible (include date and zip code missing), and be responsive to anyone commenting on your posts. It shows that you really need their help locating your baby. ❤ Do Not depend on someone contacting you via Messenger or calling you. Many will only leave a comment on your posts....check many times a day....save a listing of all your posts.

Is your Pet Lost? Did you Find a Pet? I'm hoping I can help get your baby or someone else's baby back home safe. It is a long read but well worth it. Priority #1 Start the search ASAP! This step can make the most difference in getting a pet back home. Waiting and hoping that a pet makes it back on their own can seriously jeopardize their return. Lost or Found a pet? Contact ACS - Animal Control Services and shelters to provide your info. Check sites daily. Lost pet - State law allows ACS, shelters and rescues to legally put a pet up for adoption after just 3 days . . . 5 days if micro-chipped. Even sooner if the facility is full. Make the first 72 hours count! Lost Pet - Put something with your smell and theirs outside (under something to keep dry)....dirty socks, shirts, pants, jacket, pet bed, their toys, etc. This is needed for inside cats since they are not familiar with their surroundings. When Your lost Pet Goes into Survival Mode https://www.buddhadogrescueandrecovery.com/pages/survival-mode https://www.courteouscaninesinc.com/post/when-your-lost-pet-won-t-come-to-you https://m.facebook.com/groups/165123396868018/posts/1708914089155600/ Lost and Found Pets POST ONLINE PUT UP POSTERS - for lost & found pets • Post on as many lost/found sites as possible...include same info as poster below. It greatly improves the chances of the owner/finder seeing your post. Remember that they have no clue where you are posting. • Since some do not use social media, posters are crucial to your search. Design a Poster https://www.pawboost.com/lost-pet-flyer-template. • Include: • Where the animal was last seen or found • Pet Name • Male/Female • Major cross streets • Community name • City and zip • Date missing or found • Add a link to your post just above the pic • Add your cell phone number and email • List anything unique about the animal...front paws are white, scar on left ear, left ear tipped, blind in right eye, microchip tattoo (usually right ear or inside of the thigh, etc.) • Important to withhold an identifying mark or characteristic that you can ask...just in case they are trying to scam you. • A picture makes or breaks the chances of someone identifying the animal or not. No picture significantly reduces the chances of someone even seeing your post. • Verify that the animal's pic is fully visible when people scroll through the many posts. They shouldn't have to click on it first to see the full view • Pictures should include markings of face, chest and paws...helps when others are comparing. Lost Pets - put a pic with both hair grown out and groomed. • If just found and the animal is hot, panting, its mouth open and tongue hanging out, wait a few minutes before taking pictures. Otherwise the pet can look different....even to the owner. • Put the posters in plastic sheet protectors to keep them dry...open end at the bottom and tape shut. • Hang posters in your car windows, community mailboxes (next to the mailbox so it is legal and not taken down), guard gates, groomers, vet offices, pet shops, give to your mailman, UPS, FedEx, AMAZON, other subdivisions, shopping malls, dog parks, coffee shops, etc. Put them in well lit places and eye level...minimal copy to stand out. Keep track of where you posted so you can remove them later. MICROCHIPPED PETS • FOUND PET: Take to a Vet's office or Petsmart to scan for a chip (free). Even if contact info is outdated, ask if they will use the old info to search online for the owner's new info. If the owner never registered the chip, you can still ask the service to contact the Vet or facility that inserted the chip. Hopefully they have the owner's info. The old owner may know how to contact the current owners. • Found Pet Get proof of ownership! The person claiming to be the owner should have vet bills with the animal's name & breed listed, possibly an American Kennel Club (AKC) certificate, microchip # and paperwork, Rabies Certificate or Waiver, Vaccine Records, vet bills, family photos with pet, etc. Before releasing pet to the person claiming to be the owner, view their driver's license to confirm name and address info you've written down, have them call your cell so you know it's their number, and take a pic of them holding the dog by their car, vehicle type, and plate #. This all helps just in case something goes wrong with the actual ownership status. • LOST PET Most will end up taking your pet to a local vet or Petsmart to have the microchip scanned. If your pet is chipped, call the chip company ASAP to update info. https://www.petmicrochiplookup.org/participating_companies.aspx. • PET NOT MICROCHIPPED? Are you 100% sure your pet isn't microchipped? Check with your vet or where you adopted/purchased your pet. • RE-HOMING an animal Please don't re-home someone's animal. Pets are no different than our children. We love them so very much. Re-homing before even searching for the owner will totally devastate them. If this was your pet, wouldn't you want someone to do this? Remember that it can take time to find the owners or for them to find you. You are also legally required to search for the pet's owner first...using posters, posts, and notifying Animal Control Services ACS. If you can't, you must find a foster, take to a rescue, or shelter (preferably a no-kill shelter). • You can also become a rescue foster. The rescues are hurting for help. Most pay the expenses for you to care for the found pet. OWNER & FINDER • Keep a list of online sites you posted on. Check the posts daily and respond to each person so they continue to help. Don't depend on folks to call or Messenger you. Some only leave a comment. • Keep in mind that the animal could've been picked up and taken to another part of town or even out of town. Post in local & statewide sites. The rescues/shelters from other cities may have your animal. • Only posting on Nextdoor & Facebook REALLY limits exposure. Some may never see your post. Scams Do not respond to anyone claiming to find your pet and requiring you to send them a code.
