She goes out sometimes but always comes by night. We started construction in our backyard where she usually comes and goes and she got out and hasn't come back. I'm concerned the change in the backyard deck threw her off.

I Sorry to hear about Katniss. I hope she returns soon. Hopefully, it is a reason, like the deck. In case you don't know, there is an active coyote den in Fletcher Hills. Reports of coyotes in your neighborhood are periodically make on Next Door. I think I've seen your posting on ND. If she comes back, please make her into an indoor only cat, and if you want, with limited outdoor access. She is lucky to have gotten back all the times she did. Or with unaccompanied outdoor access only with a catio, or coyote rollers for the fence. Or wearing a coyote vest while walking on a leash close to you. Or other limited outdoor time like in a pet stroller or pet backpack. And do the same with any other cats you have or ever get. According to Kat Albrecht, missing cat rescue expert, an indoor cat with outdoor access doesn't return because it can't, either temporarily or permanently. Hopefully for Katniss, it is temporary.
