I have a good back yard for him if he needs a place to go. I live in Tempe, have cared for turtles all my life and have always wanted a desert tortoise.

This is a Sonoran desert tortoise. They exust wild and are a native protected species in Arizona they do not have an existing wild population in the area located and this is certainly has a caretaker that it has escaped from. Arizona Game and Fish has a robust adoption program for the species. Make sure anybody claiming the tortoise can prove ownership with pictures that you can compare. Their shells are like fingerprints no two are alike they must match.
