Message from Owner

Ember, our long-haired female German Shepherd, disappeared from our property off Dug Hill Road in Morgantown, WV on June 19. She was last seen on camera at 9:53 a.m. Her sister was seen without her at 10:21 a.m., and Ember has not been seen since. Identifying feature: Her left ear is usually floppy and hangs down, although she can raise it when excited or running. We have driven roads, checked neighboring properties, searched the interstate corridor bordering our property, contacted shelters, and posted in numerous local groups. Ember is very attached to home, knows my husband's truck, engine, and horn, and would normally come running. She had not even eaten breakfast yet, which is extremely unusual for her. Because of that, and because she is incredibly friendly, we are concerned someone may have picked her up.

Jennifer Lynn I’m so sorry we didn’t stop. We were going fast and by the time it registered what we just saw and we looked at each other like did we just see the same thing, it was too late for us to stop. I hope you find Ember quickly!

Derrik DeVall Hi Derrik. Ember was wearing a GPS collar at the time she went missing. It appears a lot of unfortunate things happened that day that happened at the right time to create the situation at hand.

Teah Lupton thank you so much! We have been extensively searching that area. The terrain is rough. We are continuing today.

Heather Grimes We saw a German Shepherd on the side of I-68 westbound between the Sabraton and Pierpont exits on Friday, June 19, probably around 10:30 am. It was on the edge of the woods looking like it was eating something. My husband and I both commented that it was definitely a shepherd. Looked very much alive and well at that point.

These are our last two updates: 🚨 UPDATE ON EMBER 🚨 We may have a possible lead. This morning, a report came in of a dog being struck on westbound I-68 near Mile Markers 6–7. According to dispatch traffic, the dog left the interstate and went into the woods. The area is directly across from our property off Dug Hill Road and appears to be heading toward the Laurita property/airport side of the interstate. We do NOT know if this was Ember, but the timing and location are concerning enough that we are following up on it. We have spoken with someone at the Sheriff's Office, but they were unable to provide much additional information. My husband went to the area this afternoon and was able to walk approximately 30 feet into the woods from the interstate side. However, the terrain is extremely steep, and the property is posted with numerous No Trespassing signs, limiting how much of the area could be searched on foot. If anyone lives near the westbound side of I-68 between Mile Markers 6 and 7, the Laurita property, Lower Aarons Creek area, or the airport side of Dug Hill Road, please check under porches, decks, sheds, outbuildings, brush piles, and wooded areas. An injured dog will often hide rather than come when called. Please keep sharing and keep looking. We are hoping this lead helps bring Ember home. 06.20.2026 – 8:51 a.m. Update The drone search did not locate Ember on our property or the surrounding area. If someone has picked her up, please know that she is deeply loved and desperately missed. German Shepherds form strong bonds with their families, and although Ember is incredibly friendly, she is very attached to her home, her people, and especially her Dad. She has three boys who adore her, a bonded sister who is waiting for her, and a family that just wants her home. No questions asked. If you have seen Ember or have any information, please message me!
