Hello everyone, Thank you all for the kind words and support during the search for Gator. Our sincerest hope is that he simply found a new home and is being spoiled rotten into his old age. Yesterday evening, our other cat, Maverick, also disappeared. Since Gator went missing, we have been keeping her inside overnight, typically from 10:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. Based on what we know, I believe she disappeared sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Maverick has never missed treat or feeding time in the morning. The fact that she has not returned for either leads me to believe something happened to her. She stayed much closer to home than gator did. After reading posts on Facebook, Nextdoor and speaking with many of you, I believe there are two possible explanations. The first, and what I believe is the more likely scenario, is that one or more coyotes have moved into the area. I plan to contact several licensed wildlife management companies this afternoon to discuss trapping and removal. If you would be willing to allow a licensed trapper to place a trap on your property, please send me a text message at. I will coordinate the details via email. The second possibility is much more concerning. Someone may be intentionally taking and “rehoming” neighborhood pets. If that is the case, I am offering a $1,000 reward for credible information identifying the individual responsible. Definitive proof will be required. No questions asked. I have not lived here as long as some of you, but in the nearly ten years I have been here, I do not remember this ever being such a significant issue. If you have recently seen coyotes, heard them, captured them on a security camera, or had a pet go missing, I would appreciate it if you could let me know. Reporting a sighting or the loss of a pet does not obligate you to volunteer your property for trap placement. It simply helps establish a clearer picture of what may be happening in our neighborhood. Even small pieces of information may prove valuable. There is a tremendous amount of pedestrian traffic throughout our neighborhood at all hours of the day and night. If you see something, please say something. Whether it is a coyote sighting, suspicious activity, or security camera footage that may help, I would appreciate the data to help identify the threat. Thank you again for all of your support.
