My mom's dog got away. She usually stays around the hse; we fear someone took her. My mom is over 70 and Mocha is a comfort animal for her.

Post on the Love of Louie website if you haven't already. Also post on PawBoost and the nextdoor app. Make sure to report missing to area police and shelters. If microchiped make sure your contact info is up to date. Post flyers all around the neighborhood and main streets. Prayers 🙏 you find your pup.

If possibly Get HELP: There are people who find lost pets. Seek the advice of a professional trapper/rescuer and a get a DRONE Co in your area. Ask police, shelters, rescues and vets for companies nearby.

Check local shelter asap in person asap & every other day. They are not found over the phone. CHECK PETFINDER DAILY IN ABOUT A WEEK OR MORE AFTER MISSING DAY TO SEE IF UP FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE KEEP CKING SHELTERS IN PERSON. NOT JUST CALLING. EVEN IF CHIPPED, CHECK SHELTER ALSO. SOMEONE CHIPPED CAT WAS FOUND AT A SHELTER. CHIP DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN SCANNED.

Put out dogs smell your smelly food it likes asap. Some PB and owners worn clothing. Go with dog outside always. You may need to offer reward so finder returns instead of selling. Not safe for dogs outside alone anymore. Stolen daily. Especially, unaltered pets. There are people who drive around looking for dogs to steal. Post on Nextdoor & For the Love of Louie. Put up flyers up w pic of pet. If not chipped, ck shelters in person every other day. Not found over the phone. Ck shelters even if chipped. Someone found their chip cat at shelter. Alert local police and shelters. Ck craigslist daily for any rehoming/for sale/found posts. Put out dogs smell and your worn clothing. Easier to find if chipped. Put liquid smoke on lawn, dog bed outside on porch, hot dogs with food and water. Unaltered dogs get stolen the most for back yard breeders. Please get dog FIXED, CHIPPED and a TAG with your PHONE NO. If you have a dog at home, take dog for walk and he may find your dog that is missing. Never let old dogs out alone. They get lost.

LOST DOG TIPS Typically dogs will return to their lost location (even when in an unfamiliar area), unless their internal radar is disrupted by prey (which includes humans 😞). They will also look for a source of water, so check anywhere there is water (pond, creek, lake, stream). Do all of the following. Get hot, smelly food/water out ASAP. Do you have a Ring doorbell or security camera you can position in front of the food, so you can see if he/she comes to eat it? Put out some of your dirty laundry, such as a pillowcase or sweaty clothes. Post on all Lost & Found Pet groups/pages on Facebook and on Nextdoor, neighborhood/subdivision pages, Ring and ask neighbors to check security camera footage for sightings and to call you. Check your entire property for places he/she could be hiding. Go door to door and ask neighbors to do the same. Let police and animal Control/Shelter know he/she's missing. Go to the shelter in person every day or every other day at a minimum. Get neon posterboard up on all main intersections within two to five miles. Write with black marker: LOST DOG DO NOT CHASE BREED/COLOR PHONE NUMBER Get neon colored flyers with same info above made and flood the area with them (homes, businesses). They're critical in getting a lost pet back!! THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY FLYERS. I can make a flyer for you, so let me know. Make sure that you don't post sightings on social media. You don't want well-meaning people running out to help as he/she will be scared and may run, which could put him/her in danger. Posting a reward can also bring out people who only want the money and if they chase the dog, it could also end up running out of fear and into danger. ** If you (THE OWNER) see your dog, do not scream out to them as they may sense that you're scared and they could run out of fear, which could be dangerous. Sit on the ground or drop to the ground and play dead. Always have some stinky food with you, to help lure them to you. Do not say anything or make quick moves. Your dog needs to see you, hear you, and smell you - before he/she can process who you are and come to you!!! Once they approach, quietly say a phrase they would be familiar with.
