Thank you to everyone for the kind comments and the helpful tips. My Amber is home after 17 days. It happened yesterday evening thanks to a neighbor on the next block. It’s true what they they usuallly close by. Also I suspect she was coming back at night because my backyard motion light would flash and neighbors dogs sometimes would briefly bark. I also on more than one occasion heard meowing but I thought it was one of my other cats in one of the other rooms. I wanted to post yesterday but I am having to watch her because along with scheduling a visit to the vet I am nervous that since she has been out so long and years before she had been a stray that she might be likely to try to go out again. But that’s more my fear because she hasn’t tried yet. The kindness of the neighbor who has been feeding her everyday is extremely appreciated. Don’t lose hope or give up looking for your pets. They are probably so much closer than you think just like all you kind people said she probably was. Beware of scams esp if you offered a reward. That was ugly and I was scammed but right now that doesn’t matter. I’m so happy Amber is home.
