This is heartbreaking and a rough start since he was just adopted and already scared in his new home. I didn't read the other posts with suggestion to find the kitten. The Orange County Humane Society will lend the owner a trap and give instructions on setting it up. Locust Grove, VA 540-672-0069 .

If you have a shed or garage or enclosed porch, prop open the door overnight and put unwashed laundry inside. He may go in overnight. Don't put food in there because it may attract other critters. Leave a window or door open to your home after dark. He may come in. Please borrow a trap from your local shelter and set it up ASAP. Sending prayers.🙏

Cat is Close by. Check at night under bushes and porches etc with flash light for glow of thr eyes. Leave (ideally in a trap) smelly fish (like mackerel) or hot foods (my cat came back after 16 days to my neighbors grilling burgers). Call at night. Post on pawboost and print physical posters. Put posters in page protectors with closed side up and bottom taped closed.
