Message from Finder

First sighted 3/13 - I have been feeding this cat for over a month, trying to earn her trust. Until recently she has been very cautious and never let me get closer than a few feet from her. All of a sudden she is very affectionate and wants to come inside. I am unable to foster her at this time but would really love to find her people if they’re out there! Estimating she’s 1-2yrs old.

Can you please reach out to rescues? I wonder if she's in heat. We don't want her having kittens outside. Please join us in East Side Community Cats. Hopefully can find some help.

if there's a sudden change in her affection towards humans, especially one that had already been caring for her in any meaningful way, there's a good chance she's pregnant (especially this time of year). Considering she's not showing while laying like she is in the picture, she could be about 4 or even 5 weeks away from giving birth. If you bring her to the wrong type of shelter she will be euthanized so as to prevent even more mouths to feed, so ask the right questions and be careful for her sake... because she almost certainly already considers you to be her human, or she wouldn't have become so affectionate towards you (especially if she's pregnant). Lots of cats live and have kittens just fine being 100% outside in the late spring/early summer. You likely wouldn't need to change a thing about how you're caring for her, other than to ensure she has a safe, dark, quiet, hidden shelter (just a weatherproof cardboard box on your deck would probably be fine) she could have all to herself, if she doesn't already have that. Congrats on getting adopted by a cat - lol
