Lost cats Please also watch video link about how cats go missing and how they hide. Great video with tips to search for lost indoor cats!!! https://www.facebook.com/FrontStreetAnimalShelter/videos/388310901737884/ If you can, leave a door or window cracked open, or garage in case kitty comes back. Cats may return on their own. Put some items with your scent outside- you’re dirty sheets or unwashed, laundry. Cannes cat food or tuna fish and water. Put a trail of cat treats to your door. Place your kitty's bed, cat tree & litter box outside. Indoor cats that get out are usually no further than 3 houses away. Watch video which shows his they hide. Ask neighbors if you can look for your cat on their property such as garage is, sheds, or backyards . Sometimes cats will try to come back inside very late when it's dark and quiet when they feel it's safe to come out. Cats generally stay close by, so look under bushes, cars, up trees.. Most indoor cats go into survival mode and hide. Most will not respond when in "survival mode." Call your cat's name softly, listen for a meow, and look for eyes with a flashlight. They still may not come out if they hear your voice softly since they are hiding and scared. Best time is the middle of the night/ super early morning. Ask your neighbors to check their garages. File a lost pet report with the Humane Society. Check daily online for found stray cats photos on the San Diego Humane Society's website. - [ ] Post on sites: - [ ] Next door - [ ] Pawboost - [ ] Lost & Found Pets of San Diego, CA - [ ] Santee, CA Todays News and Information - [ ] lostmykitty.com You can try to contact Babs fry, she is a recovery specialist who did donate her time for free in the search for lost pets: 619-249-2221. Or cat expert Debby at 619-760-613-9514. She’s an expert at helping find lost cats. Post lots of large flyers with big writing in many places. Ask your neighbors to check their Ring app which you know shows videos of what people’s cameras have seen. Put a “Lost Cat” sign on your property. Ask your neighbors. Hope you find your kitty soon. 😻 The unwashed clothing seems to really get them home. Another cat was found underneath a nearby car. Hope these tips work for you. I’m sorry your baby is missing. Here are some tips that may help: Place your dirty clothes outside up off the ground where the breeze will carry your scent. It may lure him back. No food, water or litter outside because it attracts everyone else including ants. Open a door or window where he escaped from and crack your garage door so he can get back in 24/7. If it’s an indoor kitty it is really important he has a safe way back in so leave a door open (all day and night) as they typically try to return when it’s late hours and quiet. Check all of the bushes, shake noisy food and then be quiet and listen. He might meow but you might not hear them. Check trees, he could have been chased up one. Indoor cats don't usually go too far. Talk to neighbors. He might be camped out in their yard, and they don't know he is yours. Also, have them check their cameras. Post on Ring if you have it or ask neighbors to post on theirs. An idea that has worked for me especially with kittens. Find cat sounds on YouTube, play them for about 45 seconds, stop, listen very closely, be very quiet. Try it four or so times in different places in your yard. Do this only during the day. Put up signs on stop signs, community mailboxes, even put on neighbor's doors. Your neighborhood might have a FB page or email program. IMPORTANT. Check with vets where they went missing. Call the shelter and let them know your cat is missing so they can log it in their book. If he is chipped, call the chip company and let them know he’s missing and make sure your contact information is up-to-date. If they are not chipped, contact every vet in the area to let them know he is missing in case someone brings him for a chip check. I hope your kitty comes home soon! Check www.24petconnect.com It shows the impounds of pets at local shelters. Also post on NextDoor, local FaceBook pages, PetFinder, Pet Amber Alert.
