Animal Control is a DEATH SENTENCE for this poor furbaby. They may keep him for 72 hrs before he is EUTHANIZED! 😭 I would never call Animal Control to come get a dog unless it was being VERY AGGRESSIVE!! 😡

Is the dog still there? Does it seem injured or is it still just hanging outside your house, mistakenly thinking it is home? If it seems friendly and not aggressive, maybe ask on Nextdoor to see if one of the people with a microchip reader can come out and scan for you. If the dog is aggressive, try calling animal control back and letting them know to prioritize the pickup. It is very sad and disappointing how people have created this situation where they let their animals roam without collars and ID tags and 99% of the time not fixed, adding to the overpopulation problem and the crowding at shelters and lack of a timely response by animal control as that "week" they told you many times turns to "never" according to others.

Get someone to take it by the nearest veterinary clinic, Petco or Petsmart to have it checked for a micro chip....free service at all.

I have called plenty of shelters and they send me back to the animal control people like I really don’t know what to do. He is still here 10 hours later.
