Please help. Mt daughters kitty got out of the hse just after coming home from the vet and having surgery me tests done. He was sedated and I didn't realize he would run out as he has never been outside and never really wanted to. He always sits in frontt if the door watching the birds and bugs, but I guess he was upset with going to the Dr and he made a run for it when I took out the trash. He is my daughters baby and she is devastated as well as I am. I love him so much and feel really guilty he got out while I was watching him. Please help bring him home. She isn't sleeping or eating, worried about him. He is 3 yrs old, microchipped, and such a good boy. His paw is shaved at the IV site. He has a blue color w paw prints and a bell. He is all orange and very distinct whiskers and a loud pur. His name is Bert. If you see him, please message me

Thank you for such great advice. I have contacted the local police, BAHS, I walked door to door for all neighbors in our area. I did sit outside this morning from 2am-530am, I will try that again tonight. I will check with the local shelters on Monday.

Be proactive. Cats that escape from indoors will most likely stay close by. They will go into hiding but come out at nighttime. Go out when it’s dark, or early morning around 5 am , use a flashlight and call out by name, look in bushes, under cars etc. Talk to your neighbors and get the flyers out , they are really helpful for those who won’t see your posts on the internet. Put out some clothing to attract the cat’s smell, if possible set up a Wi-Fi camera to monitor and if the cat comes- set a trap. The cat will try to find a food source so try setting up a food station and monitor. Report to your local police and if the cat is microchipped, make sure the info is up to date. I would also email or call shelters in case animal control picks it up. Check their websites daily as new cats come in all the time.
