I know this is overwhelming, but this is what worked for me and some close friends. You have got to be proactive in your search for your missing boy.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
Distribute flyers with his color photo and your complete contact information to all your neighbors on your block and one block over. Put your flyers IN your neighbor’s mailboxes, if you’re comfortable with that. My mail carrier said it was fine. Most people are animal lovers anyway. 😻That will assure you that your neighbors have seen your flyer, they can’t miss it. Not everyone is on social media. On your flyer, ASK YOUR NEIGHBORS TO PLEASE CHECK THEIR CRAWLSPACES AND OUT BUILDINGS, INSIDE AND UNDERNEATH. Place legible posters with his color photo on stop signs IN and NEAR your neighborhood.
When my boy was missing I distributed 150 flyers. That night he came home, he had been gone for 3 days. He was starved and smelled like a crawl space.
If it’s safe, you can also walk your neighborhood and call him late at night between 10pm and 1:00am. Call him quietly and shake treats. Listen for him. He could be stuck in a storm drain and can’t get out. Use a flashlight to look for eye reflections, in bushes and up in trees. He could be very close by, cats usually don’t go very far. If he’s an indoor only cat, he may be afraid to come out during the daytime.
Do NOT put his litter box outside. Professional trackers warn about the dangers of putting them outside. Litter boxes attracts stray cats and Coyotes, putting him in danger and keeping him from coming home. Cats are smart, they know where they live. If you have a garage, leave the door up enough for him to get inside and hopefully wake you up. You can purchase an inexpensive battery operated, wireless motion sensor doorbell at Harbor Freight for under $20. It alerts you if he comes to your house. Inside the garage or on the porch at the door. Anywhere you think he might show up. The second device sits inside your home and alerts you with an alarm when it detects movement. I’ve used one for years for my indoor/outdoor boy. It’s his personal doorbell.
Good luck. I hope you find him. ❤️
