Tips for finding your cat. This is how I recently helped my friend find her lost cat. You MUST go and search for them because they may not be able to find their way home. Please try doing these things, ESPECIALLY walking around in late evening and/or early morning and calmly calling your cat then stopping periodically to listen for their reply/meow. Cover the same area over and over, EVERY day. (I've read they rarely travel more than 500 feet from home.) Go out at dusk & walk around & calmly call them. Cats can become fearful outdoors, even of their owners. If they gets treats, take a box & shake it gently. Walk, call, then listen to see if you hear their meow. Take a flashlight & shine it under every nearby car, bush, etc. looking for eyes reflecting. Put blankets or clothing with your scent on your porch or patio. Ask neighbors to make sure they didn't get shut inside a shed, garage, etc. Put posters w/ their photo & your number at every nearby stop sign & red-light & give 1 to your mail carrier. Give their photo & your number to any regular walkers or joggers. This is how my friend's cat was found, a jogger saw him. If none of this works see if someone can loan you a small humane trap & set it up w/ food & check it often. Praying they make it back home soon! 🙏 This takes some time, effort & a little money but it's totally worth it. ❤️

Check with your neighbors also and see if they can check any sheds or crawl spaces.

Vanessa Wright most important to leave a scent trail around your doors/the open window. Use your worn clothing, his bedding, etc. (NoT litter pan or scattered litter ) Searching all over w flashlights is good. But, try to limit calling out to your yard area. Sometimes they will follow your voice and end up further from home.

Also, sit outside several times each day and have a calm, casual conversation, mentioning kitty's name now and then. Even if u have to talk to yourself.

Since he/she's an indoor kitty, he/she's likely very nearby, within a 7 house radius, hiding in fear. One of the most effective tips I see posted is- Take treats and a flashlight out when it's dawn/dusk/ night. Walk slowly, shine light under bushes and other areas, like decks and crawl spaces, and up into trees. Pause, shake treats, calmly call his/her name. Listen for rustling sounds or replies. Take a few more steps, repeat. OnlY do this within your own yard, so you don't accidentally encourage your cat to leave the immediate area. Many cats will not reply even to owners when lost. Important to keep ur voice calm and gentle, even though ur stressed and panicked. Post on NextDoor. Notify mail carrier that ur looking for him/her. Notify neighbors so they know he/she's not a stray if they see him/her. Look at neighbors doorbell cams for sightings. ****Indoor cats will often try to get back inside, but can't find a way in.**** If safe, leave a door or window cracked, with smelly cat food and/or your worn clothing nearby. If not safe to leave door open, make sure u still leave water out for him/her. Food, too, if u can keep an eye on it to make sure dominant strays don't get to it and consequently keep him/her away. Hope kitty's home soon

If u did not wiTness him/her leaving ur house, do a GriD search of eVeRy inch/space. We had 1 cat slip into the garage and hide iNsiDe a bookcase completely blocked by other furniture, for 2 days. Another who got inside a moving box full of clothes, and napped for hours while we frantically searched. Neither responded when called.
