MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Putters FULL story. 6 weeks ago, someone I know was golfing and mentioned this dog on course. I hoped he was just too far out the yard, and just brushed it off. 2 weeks later I started seeing posts about this dog at the golf course, so it was clear at that point he was lost. Well, if you know me, I was invested at that point. I started doing research in Virginia and all sorrounding states in hopes maybe just ONE person cared enough to post he was missing. Many others participated in this search as there was no way, this dog, this sweet young boy, didn’t have someone who loved him. For 12 days. Rain and shine. I met Putter and conditioned him to a certain pattern in hopes he would stick with it and walk in a trap. Wasn’t easy at all. I had Putter 3 feet from me, wanting so badly to be next to me, but was super skittish. I focused on making him comfortable, he trusted me. On Easter Sunday, after 4 weeks, myself a fellow trapper, Kelly, finally secured Putter in one of the missy traps. I was so elated. Finally. Knowing in the back of my mind that call to the owner, who I knew didn’t care, would happen and he would have a chance to claim him. Officer from Animal Control called the first number on the collar. He stated the owners response was that he didn’t have any lost dogs and he was probably sold to someone at some point and they didn’t take off the collar. Let me tell you about that collar. It was slowly and painfully choking Putter, and I could finally breathe knowing it was off of him. I went to Chesterfield County Animal services on Monday to visit him but more so to see how he was doing medically. I had no clue I’d never see him again. I also had no clue he had been missing for almost a year and just up the road in Dinwiddie, Church rd. A YEAR!!!! Later that day, the same person who didn’t know him on Sunday, wanted this dog back. This traumatized dog. When I found out he picked him up which was Tuesday, I reached out to him just for him to tell me, “you should have said something you could have had him, I sold him to someone in SC with a bunch of other dogs.” He said he forgot about him. I have asked him where he was sold, as I will buy him back. He won’t help. Hoping for a miracle. This is why people don’t support hunting with dogs. Horrible person to have done that to him. If you know where this dog is, or where Courtney Cousins sold him, please contact me. #justiceforputter I will find out what happened to that dog and make sure Courtney Cousins is legally held accountable for his actions. Last words I said to Putter on Monday at the shelter was that I would not give up on him. I meant every word.
