Message from Owner

I was gone on vacay for two days, only two days, and had asked my room mates to look out for my cat. He has been let outside and I have no idea where he is. I saw him today, he went to the woods behind the apmt complex. Please help me find him

Our cat was lost in the woods for 48 days. We passed out flyers in our neighborhood and were lucky enough that our very kind neighbor saw her on his ring camera coming out of the woods in the same area she was last seen. She would not go into the trap that had the food in it. She would not come to us. We set up trail cams and set the food and water outside the trap every day checking it twice a day. Even though the raccoons & possums were eating it all. Finally we saw her on the cameras. For 2 more weeks we saw her come and eat. Then we moved the food back into the trap and we caught her. In our experience I think the most important thing we did was to be consistent with going to the last place we saw her and to continue to make available food and water in the same place. She was very happy to be home. I pray you find your kitty.

Sit outside at dusk/dark & call softly, make quiet normal noises, watch for cat eye shine. Cats can be shy to venture into the open during daylight, & tend to be nocturnal creatures. Young Williams Animal Center has Lost & Found notebooks with location info and photos. Go look through the Found notebook & put your flier in the Lost notebook. This can help! Also look through the cats that have been brought in recently. They advise that you check there every 3 days. Your pretty kitty may walk right up to your door soon! Wishing you & kitty the best of luck & love!

Go out early morning or after dark and quietly call your cat....chances are you cat is scared and hiding....take a flashlight ...if your cat doesn't come to you, shine it around to see if it catches it's eyes...under bushes and in the trees. Put a BIG, COLORFUL sign at the last place seen so people know where your cat belongs if they spot him or her…ask your neighbors to check sheds, crawl spaces and garages. Go to your local shelters every day or 2 to look for yourself…please don't depend on a phone call. The person you speak to may not be aware that your pet might have been turned in. If possible, leave your door or window open a crack while you're home.
