Message from Owner

Our son is devastated after his pet parrot flew away. Please keep an eye out in your yards, trees, rooftops, and nearby parks. Even a possible sighting could help bring him home. Thank you so much

Posted on Lost and Found birds of the US. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BfC7iCsAf/?mibextid=wwXIfr We are so sorry to hear your bird is missing. Here are some ideas to assist in your search. *Create a post on Pawboost, NextDoor & Ring, if you haven’t already. *During the daytime: use a wireless Bluetooth speaker to broadcast flock calls or your voice, shake treat bags or anything that might attract attention to food, put the cage out where it can be seen. *During the evening when searching is over, design & print off flyers with photo & contact information. These can be encased in a ziplock to keep weatherproof & posted in areas where allowed like parks, poles & any nearby gathering areas. Also drop off some at vet clinics, pet supply stores, anything within a 5 mile radius. Contact local shelters/rescues & even the police dept - they do pick up found/stray pets all the time. Make sure the world knows - neighbors esp ones that have bird feeders/baths/pools. Hand them out while searching the area. Join every local social media group there is. Run an ad in your local newspaper - some run one for free in lost & found (or cheap). Also check with local bird watcher groups - they’re always out & about. Flyers cannot be placed in mailboxes. *PLEASE CHECK WITH LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS & FILE A MISSING PET REPORT*

To find a lost parrot, take action immediately. Follow these steps to maximize your chances of a safe recovery:Act immediately: The first 48 hours are critical. Walk concentric circles from where the bird was lost, as parrots usually don't fly too far initially.Listen closely: Search primarily at dawn or dusk when birds are most vocal. Parrots often freeze and stay silent during the day if they are scared or if predators (like hawks) are nearby.Use visual landmarks: Place the parrot's cage, food, and fresh water outside where it is visible to serve as a landmark.Call your bird: Play its favorite sounds, whistles, or videos of the same species. If your parrot is bonded to another bird, try bringing the other bird outside in a secure carry cage.Engage the community: Post physical flyers in the neighborhood (especially on nearby highway off-ramps, schools, and local stores).Report the loss: Post sightings on specialized registries like 911 Parrot Alert and Pet FBI. Also, check localized platforms like Nextdoor and Craigslist, and notify local animal controls, SPCA shelters, and nearby veterinarians.
