Indoor cats usually don't go far because they are in an unfamiliar environment and are scared. They can be too scared to emerge even if they hear you calling them. The best advice is to leave a back door open after dusk so the cat can sneak back in when he feels it's safe to do so. You can also try looking for him under cars, in bushes, etc, with a flashlight. Hopefully the light will reflect off his eyes. If he doesn't turn up soon, talk to neighbors and ask to look in crawl spaces, sheds, etc in case he's shut in. If he's injured or sick, he might be hiding in someone's back yard. Good luck!
