Sophie NB thank you so much for all of your wonderful and thorough advice. We have done most of these things, and continue to call local (& non-local) vets/shelters, put up more and more posters, and wander the streets at all times calling for him. I have posted to as many social sites as I can think of and we have door knocked and had wonderful neighbors regularly checking in - there are houses we haven't been able to check however. His microchip is marked as missing. I think it's time for another door knock and flyer drop. Thank you for your kind advice.

I’m sorry your kitty is still missing. Have you door knocked your neighbourhood? It’s vital to ask your neighbours permission for at least up to ten houses away in every direction for YOU to check their gardens, their sheds, garages and under their houses. Don’t rely on them to look, as they won’t do as thorough a job as you. (A lady on another site heard a feint meow of her cat during the nighttime walks after 8 nights, it was locked in a near neighbour’s shed. Another found her cat locked in their neighbours roof!). I found my newly adopted cat five houses away on a doorstep looking puzzled and confused (that was the same day he went missing, so cats can travel fast). I’ve had two cats displaced at my house on separate occasions and I door knocked to find the owners who lived nearby (one diagonally over the back fence!). Cats can be only a few houses away or less and still not manage to find their way home. Keep searching thoroughly and drop leaflets in letterboxes WEEKLY all around the neighbourhood to remind people. Some cats are wanderers so maybe several kms away by now so expand your search and letterbox drops. A lost cat in my town was living under a house, only five houses away from its home for months before it was found. But another cat on Facebook was found 7kms away after being missing for a month. Continue to go out at night with a torch looking and calling around the streets. 10pm, midnight and 2am or 3am when it’s very quiet. (Don’t go just once). This worked for me. When I looked for my ragdoll cat he never meowed, I would have to spot him with the torch. Once I found him two blocks away on the night he went missing. Often he was in a garden in the street behind me. Perhaps take some cat biscuits and shake them or tap on a can or take a hot roast chicken from the supermarket. Use your normal voice. Spend at least half an hour to an hour looking each time and walk very, very slowly. Regularly check the Lost Dogs Home website and any local pound websites every three days. Good luck with your search for your beautiful kitty.

I’m sorry your cat is missing. 💔 The following suggestions may help you find your cat, they have worked for me in the past: Try approaching your neighbors. Put up posters. Leaflet neighborhood if possible at least 1-2 streets on either-side of yours, that’s how my missing cat was identified on a neighbor’s property. Go door knocking, at least 3-4 properties on either side of yours and across the road and street behind. Speak to those neighbours and personally deliver a leaflet of your missing cat to them. Your neighbours may pay more attention if you speak with them. Ask your neighbours if any CCTV footage may have been captured of your cat, this can be really helpful in tracking your cat’s movements. Contact local vets, pounds and shelters. Post on other Facebook Lost pet/cat sites for more exposure. Your cat will be close by, from personal experience, one of my missing cat’s was located at my next door neighbor’s house and another time several years ago, my cat was just one street away. If you haven't already done so, make sure to report your cat missing with the microchip company where their microchip is registered to, that's how my cat was found and prevented a stranger from changing ownership of her. The best advice I can offer is to go out every night and search for your missing cat after dark, as this is often when you’ll have the most success. Call their name late at night or in the early hours of the morning, when everything is quiet and your cat can hear you more easily. Try going out between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., and take a strong torch with you. If possible, go out twice during the night at different times. In many cases, lost cats are hiding very close-by, sometimes just next door or a few houses away. This method has worked for me before. I hope you’re reunited with your kitty soon ❤️🙏🏼

Knock on neighbours doors and put out flyers everywhere. Do offer rewards. Also go out in the night. You can hear him better then. Check the pounds too. Airtags on collars help greatly.

Also leave door ajar if it is safe to do so as sometimes they will return themselves… make up little flyers and put them in peoples mailboxes to check their sheds as some people don’t have social media 🤞🤞
