🐾Place some dirty laundry outsid to e, go out shake it I treats, crack a can of catfood and tap it. Look at night with flashlight because their eyes glow. Check in sheds and under porches, decks ect. Talk to neighbors too, make sure they check their shelters . Might have to set a hav-a heart trap if he's that skittish. Might only come out at night. Sometimes if you leave part of your garage open they will sneak back in. Not sure if that's possible or if you have other animals. I've heard where the cat jumps back in a window. Flyers are VERY important too, someone may have taken him in or seen him. Not everyone is on Facebook-Let your post office delivery person know too in case they hear of someone or see him on the local route- check with neighbors, someone may have brought him in. It's a good idea to hang a sign from your mailbox "LOST CaT" in case they are looking for an owner. You can buy a cheap TASCo game camera at Walmart $29 with an SD card and set it up to see if you catch him near by. It surprisingly takes good pictures and is easy to set up- definitely do the dirty laundry and definitely do the tapping of the cat food can. These things really do help🐾🐾🐾don't lose hope. I've had strays remain elusive for over a year before they learn to trust again. They go into survival mode. Be vigilant about flyers, ask neighbors. The only way a lost cat can find its way home is with its nose. They have to use their sense of smell to get home again. Put anything outside that smells like their territory. Put the pajamas you slept in outside because you probably sweated in them. Put out their food your stinky socks your smelly sneakers anything you can think of that the cat will recognize by smell. Cats usually stay within a five house radius of their own home for up to a week or so sleeping in the bushes during the day and coming out at dusk and dawn. Those are good times to take a walk shaking the treat bag calling out but cats also tend to come out and walk around very late at night. Try to keep a door cracked if you can whether it's the garage or whatever or a window cracked so you can hear them if they call out for you. Put this on all of the neighborhood pages as well as lost and found pets sites. Knock on the neighbors doors and make sure they know you're looking for your cat. Good luck PS cats can smell up to one mile away from their own house.

Please try the below tips. They work. I have helped many find their cats. The most important thing I will tell you is to get a super bright flashlight and go out searching between midnight and 6 am or at least when it’s dark outside and shine light into bushes right around your home and you will see your cats eyes glow. So easy to spot their eyes through the bushes in the dark. Cats mostly stay right next to your house possibly under a shed or your own house or anywhere right close by. They don’t go far at all. Usually no more than 5-6 houses away/or next block over. They almost always hunker down right near your home and stay quiet during the day. They almost never come out during the day because they are scared and wait until the world is quiet at night. Don’t forget to check your outdoor cameras and or your neighbors cameras. Cats personalities do change when they get outside and they become scared and they almost always do not come out when you call them during the day. When you spot them, you need to have their favorite treat with u to coax them over once you spot him/her. But check up in trees and inside/under things in your yard. Search garages, sheds, under decks and bushes, in crawl spaces, behind AC units - search anywhere a cat might be trapped or hiding. Try calling and try either shaking a can/bag of treats or carrying an open (smelly) can of cat food or fish with you. Put something w/ yours and your cat's scent on the porch (cat bed, scratching post, sofa pillows, litter box, recording of your voice) and your scent like dirty towel or clothes - Keep your garage door up enough to allow entry. Best to open the door wherever they escaped. Keep out fresh bowls of water. Put up large missing cat posters (neon poster board works well), talk to all neighbors (leave info for those not home), post on all local social media groups for lost pets, neighborhood sites and make sure to check with local animal control at least once a week (better to go in person but at least call and send them a photo). If not found at NIGHT with a bright FLASHLIGHT, go out during early morning, before dawn, as many/most cats are active around that time. Another important thing to do is to buy a trap. You can get a trap from tractor supply or maybe borrow from the humane society or a rescue. Cover the trap with your dirty towels so your smell is on them and place over trap the and inside in the back of the trap place a can of tuna at the back of the trap. It should be a big enough trap so your cat can completely walk inside before the trap door closes. Traps must be checked multiple times each day without fail. Posting flyers with their picture up to a few blocks away from your home makes a big difference because many people don’t look online, particularly elderly. Trust me, this suggestion is from personal experience when helping someone get their cat back. The Cat was seen the next block over and so the trap was then taken to that neighbor’s porch because it was living under the neighbors shed during the day and came out to eat from the porch at night. Sometimes it takes awhile to get a cat back. So don’t give up, he/she is worth it. I will be praying you find your baby 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Indoor only cats and cats with limited outdoor access go into “survival mode”. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and a pillow case or dirty sheets outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in or back porch or where they escaped from. indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars, sheds and in bushes. Look for their eyes to gleam brightly in the dark. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of survival mode, but this is a dangerous time because then they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for them as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. But any $10 camera can be easily purchased and put out around your house. They are hugely helpful!!!! A lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap. Cover the trap with your dirty sheets or bath towels with your smell to attract them home. Put a can of tuna inside and the trap needs to be big enough that the door can close behind them once inside it so they can’t escape when done eating.

No matter how long your kitty has been gone, stay vigilant with all lost cat protocols and advice - kitty may have been taken in by a well meaning person and could be very near - keep posters and flyers fresh and communications current with local animal control, vets, and rescues for new leads - keep the faith 💪🏼 Use whatever is applicable in the following for your situation: Extra strength prayers your kitty is safe nearby (cats usually stay in the vicinity) and home very very soon - put their food and shelter outside your door in a protected area and/or in your garage - diligently canvas the area and local businesses with large colorful posters and flyers - contact local animal control, vets, and rescues for any possible leads - cross post on neighborhood/community FB pages for further reach - cats are superior survivalists - stay vigilant in searching and don’t lose hope 🙏🏻❤️💪🏼 P.s. Beware of scammers saying they have found your kitty and to message them your contact information. And also how an Instagram/FB site helped them find their pet - don't click on site. All BS scammers. 🙏❤️💪🏼

Here are a few things you can try. Cats usually don’t go far. They just hide well. Cats are very active at dusk and dawn. So first of all you can go out and call for him. You can put his food/water, and lots of cat nip outside your house to help draw him back. Also, put your cat's bedding that has your cat's scent on it outside to attract your cat back to your home. Also putting your own unwashed clothes or bedding out . Cats run on scent and this is highly effective in luring your cat back home .PetMD backs this up, can help lure the cat back home, as it's a comfortable and familiar smell. Shake the treat/food container outside. Check garages, especially under porches and decks,dense bushes, etc. Get one of those strong flashlights they will catch a cat's reflective eyes two blocks away and save you tons of time!!! Do not leave the food out overnight as it will attract other animals that can scare the kitty away. Go to your neighbors and let them know your kitty got out and give them your contact info. Walk your neighborhood and talk to people as you can. Take a flyer TO your local vets office and shelter a face is better than a thousand words of description and check every couple of days in person if possible Sometimes it can take weeks or months to find your kitty. Also post with Pawboost and Sam the Parrot about your missing cat. Many times cats are found within a couple hundred feet of their homes. Post fliers around your neighborhood with your phone number that people can call day or night. And talk to your mail carrier. They see lots of animals. If they see a strange kitty around, they may recognize it as yours. Make sure you call local animal shelters, etc Best time to look is between 1-6AM Get a humane trap ASAP! This it's the best chance at retrieving your cat. Line it with newspaper. The ONLY food you leave out should be in that trap. Do not leave the trap set for long periods of time unattended, especially overnight. The most importantly do not give up hope! Open your garage door a little. Don’t put the litter box out. 🙏🏻Also take a flashlight out at night and look in and under things to see if you can see the kitty’s eyes.
