Sandy Ellis Sandy - You did not read the complete sentence: Most importantly, I would get a chair, a bowl of her/his favorite food or tuna, a used litter box for scent, and STAY OUTSIDE your door in that chair tonight and every night until he/she comes home. This requires some focused effort on your part - as in losing some sleep.

Bill Johnson putting food outside is a bad idea ! If your cat goes missing they come home to eat … if it just keeps coming to eat it won’t ever go back in the house cause it full . Only use food if your setting a trap . I appreciate your concern. Thanks so much for your ideas

Bill Johnson I talked to my neighbors the first day … they know her .. I also have 2 ways she can get back in the house for emergency.. 1 is in the front of the the house the other is in the back

I'm thinking that something frightened her or chased her outside the yard. Knock on neighbor's doors and ask them to open garages - I'll be she took refuge in a garage.

Please make her indoor only when she comes home ..... Here is some advice: I'm sure he/she is hiding nearby or could have been accidently locked in a neighbor's garage - talk to all neighbors in a several block radius. Posters are helpful and do notify police and animal shelters.. Most importantly, I would get a chair, a bowl of her/his favorite food or tuna, a used litter box for scent, and stay outside your door in that chair tonight and every night until he/she comes home. Yes, I know it’s cold tonight but so is it cold for your baby – just bring blankets and a warm hat. Cats hide during the day but will come out late at night when they feel its safe. You need to be there when she/he comes back because he/she will not hang around and wait for you. Be patient and call her/him by name often. This will require some work and inconvenience but it will be well worth the effort.
