Has the cat definitely been sighted outside? If you don't have a confirmed sighting outside, or the cat was not seen leaving the house, it might be inside somewhere. Cats hide when they are not feeling well or are scared, or there has been some big change in the house. Look in every closet, cupboard, drawer, chair, sofa, box springs, washer and dryer, dishwasher, fridge, anywhere the cat could hide. When I had adopted one of my cats, he got up into the sleeper sofa & hid. Took me almost 24 hours to find him. My friend's black cat hid in a kitchen cupboard, way in the back behind some big pots. It took nearly 4 days to find her. So if you do not have confirmation of the cat being seen outside or seen escaping, thoroughly check the house. Good luck. Hope kitty is found safe and sound.

Please report your kitty as lost to your local Animal Shelter in case someone turns him/her into them. Indoor cats are usually close to home within 3 houses away. After checking all possible hiding places in your home, hang clothes with your scent out. Scent only - no food. Ask your nearby neighbors to look in their yards, bushes, garages and outdoor cameras to see if your pet is there. Post fliers with the cat’s pic and your contact information on it around the area your pet was lost. Keep an access point open for your pet to slip back in your home. Look in bushes or hiding spots around your home as if your kitty is unfamiliar with being outdoors, as he/she is most probably scared of all the new sounds and smells and very likely will make himself/herself safe by finding a hiding spot. Sometimes the best time to find your cat is when the noise level is low - after hours - or early morning hours. Take a flashlight and look for the shining eyes. Consider playing a YouTube video of cats meowing as you walk and search for your kitty. Cats are drawn to other cats’ sounds . Also try using a laser pointer as you walk around searching; cats are drawn to laser pointers as well🙏🏻❤️!

Most indoor cats will stay very close to home, but they will go into hiding because they go into survival mode, especially during the day. If it’s at all possible for you to put some recently worn clothing, bedding, a cat tree, if your cat has one near a open door window or garage where the cat will have access to return home, they usually will do it between midnight and 3 AM in the morning. Do not put a litter box out because that will attract other predators such as coyotes, raccoons, skunks, etc. At night time, you can also take a flashlight looking under cars in trees and bushes Taking with you a bag of treats if your cat is treat motivated, calling its name softly staying low to the ground, shaking the bag and using the flashlight to possibly light up your cats eyes. Sometimes they can stay in hiding for days so don’t give up. Hope these tips help and that you’re beautiful. Cat returns home safely and soon🙏🐈‍⬛❤️
