Dont give up. I once found a parakeet, thought it was my sister's, but it wasn't. She put an ad in local paper, and it belonged to an elderly couple who had lost it many months before. They were so thrilled to get him back.

To parents of lost pets: Beware of scammers who will comment with links for "lost" pets services. (Including Drone services) And they will CALL or MESSAGE you also. Do not fall for their scams. Also, they call using what seems like legit shelter number saying pet needs surgery/help. Hang up and call shelter directly.
