Why nearby neighbors matter more than large Facebook groups in the first couple of days. An example of how it works: Let's say there's a Facebook group for Surprise AZ with 24,000 people in it. It's a decent sized city. Approximately 11 miles north to south. 8 to 10 miles east to west. Covering approximately 110 square miles. Posting on a Facebook group with 24,000 members may sound like a massive search team. However, most of those people are too spread out and will never even see the pet in real life. Approximately 50% of people like dogs or would be helpful if they see the dog. The remaining 50% are a mix of people who are: Indifferent Don't notice dogs Don't feel comfortable around unfamiliar dogs Are too busy, or Simply aren't interested in helping. A loose small dog can travel an estimated 3–5 miles in a day A large dog can travel 5 to 10+ miles a day. But in this heat they are not traveling that far. Likely within a mile or two. Of course in this heat the first hours are critical!! A dog that is loose may still be within a manageable area, but every day that passes, increases the distance it travels and the number of possibilities move from manageable to endless. This is why the goal is NOT Shares, or views because there is no way you will reach everyone with your post in your city. Definitely not going to get everyone looking for your pet. Your goal is to get as many people as possible within that 1–3 mile radius of the last known location, ACTIVELY paying attention. Typically the TOP and MOST EFFECTIVE way to do that is with the neighborhood apps. And the Facebook groups for your subdivision. In heavy spanish-speaking neighborhoods flyers are typically the lead way to go as well as Spanish language groups for your neighborhood. Offering a reward definitely grabs attention so if you're in a hurry you definitely want to add one for the most attention. Right now in the heat, most people need the extra inspiration to check their cameras and look outside.

Still can't find your pet? 1. Have you posted 👉👉three times a day on next door AND Neighbors by ring? (NOT THE RING APP) 👉👉 Have you commented on your post two or three times to get it going? 👉👉 Have you continued to comment for a few days so everyone in your neighborhood to see it? Or did you just post and move on to post somewhere else? 2. Did you put a reward in the first sentence? 👉👉👉With the amount? 3. Did you put a reward AND your phone number plus ONE BIG CLEAR picture of your pet on all the garages on your street? And the one behind your house? If that didn't work... 4. Did you call all the veterinarians within 10 miles of you to see if A PET MATCHING YOUR PETS DESCRIPTION was brought in injured or deceased hit by a car? 5. Did you call the local police department and ask for dispatch and see if anyone reported a deceased pet matching yours description for dead animal pickup? 6. Did you crop everything out of the picture but your pet and put it on Petco love lost?

If your pet is friendly there's a good chance someone took it into their home. Hopefully it's a good person that posts looking for you. Unfortunately we have an extremely high rate of people that think finders keepers, if it's free it's for me. When they do this they think they are rescuing a puppy so they keep it. Once owners get Flyers up these types will drive right past them and sleep well at night while they steal your dog. Hopefully a good person found your dog and they are posting looking for you. If your dog is skittish and will not let anyone approach, then you have your work cut out for you because you're going to have to post on the two neighborhood apps and get Flyers up immediately and look for leads and sightings. Then you're going to have to get over there since no one else will be able to contain your pet for you. I hope you find your doggy quickly and safely. ♥️

Major error: for some reason PB only asks for one street and a zip code. A zip code can be miles long which is not helpful for finding a pet. For best results you want to focus on the actual major intersection by your house. If owner's out quickly their dog is usually within a mile of the house. You want others that are helping you to be focused on that area as well. Dogs are dropping like flies within 30 minutes to an hour in this heat and can get hit within 5 minutes of getting out so owners really can't afford to lose time by not having clear info. I really hope you find your pet quickly and safely. ♥️

A high % of Lost Pet cases are solved in their neighborhood!!! THAT'S WHERE THE SEARCH NEEDS TO BE! This is why the neighborhood apps work best. Post at least three times a day on both of them. Dogs: Many lost dogs are found within 1–2 miles of where they went missing, especially if they escaped from home. Depending on the dog's personality and circumstances, some stay within a few blocks while others travel much farther. Cats: Indoor cats that get outside are often found very close to home—frequently within a few houses to about 500 feet (150 m). Outdoor cats and more adventurous cats may roam farther, (usually within a block) but many are discovered hiding nearby. THIS WHY OWNERS SHOULD BE ON BOTH NEXT DOOR AS WELL AS THE NEIGHBORS BY RING APP POSTING THREE TIMES A DAY. AND PUTTING UP VERY SIMPLE FLYERS SO PEOPLE CAN READ THEM FROM 20 FT AWAY (a flyer doesn't work if nobody can read it): REWARD AMOUNT PHONE NUMBER ONE BIG CLEAR PICTURE OF THE PET. Don't even put lost dog on there. The reward is your attention grabbing headline. Get at least 40 Flyers up at the major intersections north south east and west of you. All four sides of the intersection. And at the exit points from your subdivision and the one across the street from you. Should take about an hour. Do more if you can but it's hot. The next day put another 40 up expanding your range by a mile.

Hi please listen if you really want to find your cat these are the very best tips. Cats- hi Some general information: Stay off Lost Pet websites. They are too spread out. When we lose a cat the goal is not to let 200 random people somewhere in Arizona know that we are missing a cat. 😉 The goal is not to get the word out to people 20 to 40 miles away.😉 The goal is: To let people on your street know. To motivate them to look and let you know. See cats are usually less than 10 houses from home. A frightened or roaming cat will often hunker down in fear somewhere and stay there. Usually within a 3-to-5 house radius if they are indoor-only. They often do not come out even when you call them. Also, it's very important if you live in a coyote zone that you start knocking on neighbor's doors immediately. Don't just wait for your cat to show up. Knock on the door ask them to check their backyard while you stand there and wait! You don't want to say can you please check and let me know because they often won't. Rewards WITH THE AMOUNT inspire people to pay more attention and go the extra mile. Even people that don't like cats will help for the right incentive. I would put $20-$40 REWARD Phone number and 1 big picture of your cat on a flyer. Absolutely nothing else! Not lost cat, nothing.
